I love seeing the NoYork love man. I feel like he kickstarted a lot of the trends we have in the underground now with that one

Half of the underground producers scene was on that. The other half is on Jesus. He was ahead of his time

There's nothing experimental about a rap rock album from Lil Wayne or Nothing Was The Same from Drake bro, who said anything about mad? Niggas is on a Hip Hop forum but don't know anything about Hip Hop is what I'm amazed by

If you like Gonjasufi check out his early work when he went by Sumach.

I’d add this album to my top 5-10 list of experimental rap as well

NWTS is his most experimental album to date imo. He'll never make any other album that sounds as gothic as NWTS ever again

Because Wayne was doing his best NERD impression (and others) and Kanye was pushing the boundary of what a hip-hop album could sound like.

Just think about the music landscape in the mid to late 2000s. How many albums done by NERD, Kid Rock, Rage Against The Machine, Linkin Park, Deftones etc. etc. etc. sounded like Rebirth?

Now how many albums sounded like 808s during that time?

    Define "experimental hip hop".

Because 56 Nights or something by Young Thug circa 2013-15 is much more experimental and interesting to me than any JPEGMAFIA albums or cLOUDDEAD.

You can say 808 is Ye doing his best cudi and t pain impression lmfao

Rebirth is just as experimental, not as well executed but experimental without a doubt
