Art comes from suffering and I think rap is one of the best examples of that
IMO in the last few years people started seeing rap as nothing more than entertainment but forget that there's real tragedy behind a lot of this music
So to me it's not that violence in rap is somehow worse compared to before, I just think the general perception towards it has become more apathetic
Idk what's the cause but seeing sheltered kids talking about opps and which rappers should be smoked is definitely a symptom
hey im not the one who said shut up
dam ur right, i will reflect on my actions and try and be a better person in the future.

lmaooo
Let’s gooooo.
Thanks brother. I’d like to speak to him as well. It was very hard on me to lose a best friend over d*** addiction, but I think if no one had spoken up, he would have died. He confided in me that he was doing molly every evening, and yes! He began to glorify that d*** habit that rappers exhibit, even though people loved him without it.
Mmmm. I have my own criticisms of capitalism, but I still think it’s the best of the evils. People will always find a way to f*** up
It’s horrible to watch up close though. Very damaging
Great post bro. Thank you so much for this
When niggas in Detroit and every major city in the South wanted to be Chicago niggas and gloat about packs and smoking on each other. Ops was never even a word in Detroit rap lingo even when drill was around, wasn’t until the younger generation started rapping that all of a sudden every hood rapper was yelling about ops, sliding, and packs. That s*** got teenage death numbers up in my city like a MF cause uneducated teens and s*** look up to these rappers and wanna be like them. Call me an Uncle Tom if you want. I’m a social worker so I see this s*** first hand and it’s opened my eyes to how important it is to teach kids at a young age rap is just entertainment.
I’ve gone to homes when the child has everything he needs, two parents, a house, nice clothes and etc but niggas wanna be like Peezy so bad and other scam rappers they end up doing dumb s*** or hang with criminals who they don’t even have to be around because they think the s*** is fun or “that’s how life is supposed to be”. It’s sad.
Hopsin warned us smh
Rap has always been like that?
And it’s weird to single out rap when literally EVERY genre has “toxic” s***
All humans are flawed and music of any kind shows that clearly
Maybe the Rap Meta is more toxic but I think that’s a function of social media/ accessibility of communication.
The rap game itself seems more amicable than ever.
Very little beef, less violence, more collaboration. Feels good man.
It's when little richard penned
Tutti Frutti, good booty
If it's tight, it's all right
And if it's greasy, it makes it easy

Had to look this up, RIP but that nigga was a sicko and I mean that as much as a compliment as it can be seen as lmaooo
Lmao yeah Idk why it got moved to politics
meanwhile there's a whole thread just busting nuts over natasha bedingfield having ass (cause white women having ass is the in thing) in the music sxn that's just fine lol.
Always been this way. It’s just that rap/hip hop has truly become pop culture now, and those unfamiliar with it are sensitive to it, and then you have those suburban or rather affluent living fans who try to act out these rap personas irl, and take it to the extreme.
Rap/hip hop has traditionally always been anti-establishment, and counter culture. But now it’s the mainstream so there is a growing conflict in its existence.

You know, you're really correct about this. There's no medium left essentially.
David P and the P is for politics sxn. I can’t understand why this thread was moved here, it’s an important discussion that will be overlooked
that whole nojumper, akademiks, rap youtuber scene is no different than stan twitter with the way they identify themselves with their favorite artists and start rivalries between fanbases. Super weird and I'm pretty sure the rise of stan culture on social media contributed a lot to it
rap is a tool for people to either prosper and build on or promote hate and project insecurities
you cant blame the knife when someone gets stabbed
