@Doubledawg227 @AP3
Check out Choking_Butterfly's post about young people. I think it holds some truth about why this s*** became toxic.
Reflection of society, our society is dark right now, like you said "clout" era causing destructive behaviors in the youth for attention, these kids were raised by mostly narcissistic rude cynical parents from Generation X. It's all interlinked I feel like
I agree, social media is really just the surface. Capitalism plays a part because attention essentially equates to $$, no matter if it’s negative or not (from an artist perspective). Also most young people are raised in broken homes, that causes that depression. Generation X has failed them.
Holy s*** dude yall good?
and that's good you near a more decent area right?
Oh yeah I don’t live anywhere close to where that s*** was happening lol. I was out purchasing some weed though lol
And yeah my area isn’t bad at all actually.

What a relief bro
Was worried about you! :khaled2
That's pretty wild though, seeing a d*** raid must be some breaking bad type s*** lol

This is such a real post man. I'd also like to clarify that I am not "hating" on any specific generation either. I just feel like the current parents of the youth who are actually both Gen X and Millennials have failed.
You're right though capitalism is the root of the issue.
Not lately from nwa to death row records the black communities ils has always been used fr profit the thing is though that culturally we defend those that arent good for us so no one is ever truly called out.
Toxic Hip hop has put black culture back YEARS
I did not know this bro. Thanks for the insight

Lol nah, was just a line of cop cars outside some grimy looking apartments. I think it was basically over by the time I rolled by. Nowhere near as exciting as tv makes it seem lol

Lol yeah man, sure those are probably not like how hollywood portrays them. That's still scary tho! be safe!!
I feel bad about making this thread
It seems like everyone got mad at me
It was just a few questions though
F*** em. They don’t have the mentality to deal with obvious problems
I'm not sure he wants to reveal it, but he lives in appalachia
I'm here to listen bro, please tell if you want
Okay, disclaimer, I’m a white 24 year old guy.
My best friend used to be a black guy named, let’s say Jack. So jack slowly got into d****, and eventually, he talked about d**** as his way of being blacker. He grew up privileged, a doctor dad, all the good stuff. So over time, he resented the whiteness that he felt from that privilege, and he resorted to d**** as a way to make him blacker. I’m serious, he alluded to this in conversations and it was down right strange.
Eventually he was having seizures from Molly usage, so I talked to his parents. From then, he never trusted me. Glad it’s no longer, but if he’s ever clean he’s welcome as my friend again.

I'm a 27 year old white guy, so I guess we have that commonality.
So sorry to hear. Honestly that's a pretty messed up situation. Someone sabotaging themselves to fake an image. This is a common thing in suburbia unfortunately. @BigDckBandit would probably love to discuss this as well. As he agrees that ALOT of kids who are upper middle-class go through a phase where they start indulging into this clout culture s***, and then suddenly they start emulating these personalities, doing d****, trying to become a "rapper", posting ridiculous s*** on social media.
It's a true epidemic to be honest, the fact that people can't just be themselves is a problem that is DEEPLY ingrained in capitalism.
You're real as f*** for actually telling his parents, you might have saved his life. Major props to you.
Let’s gooooo.
Thanks brother. I’d like to speak to him as well. It was very hard on me to lose a best friend over d*** addiction, but I think if no one had spoken up, he would have died. He confided in me that he was doing molly every evening, and yes! He began to glorify that d*** habit that rappers exhibit, even though people loved him without it.
Mmmm. I have my own criticisms of capitalism, but I still think it’s the best of the evils. People will always find a way to f*** up
It’s horrible to watch up close though. Very damaging
It’s not it got more toxic it’s that with social media people which wouldn’t been exposed to regional scene have been exposed to it and once just regional issues are now shown to wilder world
Don’t think Chicago drill scene would had taken off like it did without it

I understand you message cleary, I’m not blaming Generation X because the individual has the responsibility as well. However, it’s much harder to overcome being toxic when there isn’t a solid foundation from home.
rap has never always been toxic

culturally we stopped calling rappers out for being toxic and it just kept getting worse
yeah I don't like that. All it does is kill the f***ing conversation.
They did the same to @YoungNastyShawty thread the other day talking about publications talking about black music.
@sab why was this moved to politics?
Lmao yeah Idk why it got moved to politics
Yall make this thread every day and talk about this toxicity when yall dont even know what's going on. Honestly, half of yall worse than dj akademiks
I will ALWAYS blame AK for the current state of rap fans. He made outsiders see black men dying as some form of entertainment. I don’t care what anyone say, he’s part to blame for this mess.
Y'all gotta stop tryna make out to be the super villain all the issues in rap come from.
Those kids always existed that's why Malibus Most Wanted was made the difference is they didn't have the internet to congregate.

Interestingly enough, Too $hort said on an NPR podcast that he wanted his 2nd album to be a conscious album but the label wanted him to go "dirtier".

Some weird fetishizing by white people going on fosho looking back, but street rap rose to prominence because of the authenticity and how people relate to those situations. To me it's almost like telling people not to talk about what they're living through.
