This s*** is mad tiring, crazy how white people are with the quickness when it comes to helping animals but black issues aren't given the time of the day. Where tf is peta why aren't they donating their proceeds to blm and other black causes, where is UNICEF, where is the UN. Where are all these major conglomerates now? Social media posts are doing something but aren't enough

I mean you're in South Africa so I don't know exactly the post apartheid dynamics over there as much.

Black people are just 12% of the population in the US though, and disenfranchisement of the 1900s still effects them to this day. A small population with lower education rates, less social/political capital, and to this day an alienation from the general population are the three main struggles in my view.

Social mobility is the true answer by taking care of their community and penetrating more and more higher skilled/income work. Entertainment industry is nice and all but the real drivers of influence are in capital/wealth.

Look at the Jews throughout history and that is your answer. If you're the highest skilled doctor/lawyer/banker/scientist in your field, people will have no choice but to respect you. The racism against you barely touches you because you have the real influence/power to move society. You own the important businesses, you dictate your own future.

Racism is major here and the government isn't doing much are about, people can be directly and indirectly racist and are able to proceed with their lives.

Yea I figured it's much more fresh and sadly prevalent over there. The model remains the same to overcome it but I'd say y'all are at a much worse point to start off from.

There’s been a psychological criminalization of blacks in media for centuries now. I think it would require huge legislative changes (to the extent of amending or rewriting the constitution) some kind of economic measures (overthrowing of mega-billionaires, reparations, and a collapse of the prison industrial complex) but most importantly there needs to be some kind of mass de-programming that at least allows future generations to see race in a completely different way.

@Babybop_ I'd have hope as the rest of your African neighbors become richer countries by 2050, their success and influence will be seen in SA. The racism of SA will become more and more shameful/stark to the rest of the continent.

Now all those African countries will be getting rich off of Chinese debt but that's another issue

The city is just a model for black owned businesses and autonomous success. Young kids go away to university then come back to Atlanta to open up new businesses, this creates new jobs for their community, and continues to grow the wealth enjoyed by all. More generations that enjoy this, the better education gets, and more businesses will open. It's just an example of successful capitalism.

Finna try to look into it more too

The main thing is time, We already know it hasn’t been a long time since segregation and even after that still facing a lot of obstacles and other s*** that hold back black communities from thriving. This type of thing takes centuries to get through (white folks have had a huge head start) and it hasn’t even been one since segregation. Everything takes time and all we can do is just keep moving forward and doing what we gotta do. There’s still hella obstacles TILL THIS DAY. And that’s just some crazy to think about

That’s very overrated and Atlanta is very over sensationalized in this aspect. There’s not as much black owned thriving businesses as they want you to believe. And the west side of the city is pretty much the Bronx in terms of jobs and public education. If you aren’t in the north side/midtown-downtown or certain parts of East Atlanta there’s not much at all

They act like they don't know what's going on and why are they continuing with these behaviors if they know people are against them?
