There will never be honest conversations about Drake on here again

Joe Budden didn't popularize melodic rap because Joe Buddens music wasn't that popular

The meme will consume us all

The people I just named made some of the biggest rap songs oat before anyone knew Drake. Even Ja Rule was singing on his on hits. Drake didn’t invent this formula.

If we really want to break this s*** down Drake’s influence in R&B more than it is in rap. The rappers that sing today are influenced by Chicago, ATL, Wayne, before they are influenced by Drake.

    hell KANYE

do you think Fugees' The Score & Miseducation played a role at all, or was that just a one-off that only worked bc of their individual skillsets? not being an a******, but really asking

I think all of the people who came before and inspired drake deserve credit and drake deserves a piece of the credit too

He’s being compared to his own standards which are unrealistically high. Idk his commercial peak was 2018 but Rich Flex, Jimmy Cooks, Rich Baby Daddy all come to mind as songs that had a long burn

But the question is kinda different

Like do I think those people inspired Drake and what he was doing

    Yeah

Do I think they directly contributed to popularizing melodic rap in the late 2000s and early 2010s

    Probably not

I don't think drake like invented that but I think he played a big role in popularizing it in a new era

Everyone dismisses his #1s (of the 2020s) because they only stayed there for a week like ok? Lol how many songs don’t go number one just an unrealistic standard to sustain imo

Joe budden is the king of revising his impact on other rappers.. the only point I’ll give him is for one very brief moment he had more clout than Drake and Drake befriended him.. he’s probably more influential in the having hot girlfriends game
