do you think Fugees' The Score & Miseducation played a role at all, or was that just a one-off that only worked bc of their individual skillsets? not being an a******, but really asking

Honestly this is fair tho the way lauryn hill was flowing definitely has huge influence on the melodic rapping, to me tho its kinda like saying ll cool j influenced juice wrld, were missing a couple steps in between and drake is a big one

Just because you dont like him doesnt mean he didnt influence mad artists, if you genuinely listen to a melodic drake song and think “this is a joe budden bite” then you are smoking real genuine cock

It’s always funny when someone exposes when they started listening to Drake and/or hiphop

I thought he dissed him because he called the way he did the supa dupa flow trash

that was part of it but he opened up the diss talking about how he didn’t “steal” the supa dupa flow and how niggas were cloning his style

Drake & Sean were doing that hashtag flow heavy and Luda was alr doing it the flow for a grip

His list of influences as far as hip hop are people like Tory Lanez, Jack Harlow, Juice WRLD. Good artists for sure but to claim he has this massive influence on rap and that’s your crop of names?

Most Drake’s melodic songs are ghostwritten from what we now know so damn can’t make his own flows rapping and singing either

But the question is kinda different

Like do I think those people inspired Drake and what he was doing

    Yeah

Do I think they directly contributed to popularizing melodic rap in the late 2000s and early 2010s

    Probably not

I don't think drake like invented that but I think he played a big role in popularizing it in a new era

that's very fair, I feel you

    Ok

It's literally just about the dopamine they get from discrediting drake and then agreeing with each other

You can't have a conversation involving drake without the stupid stuff on here anymore

Everyone dismisses his #1s (of the 2020s) because they only stayed there for a week like ok? Lol how many songs don’t go number one just an unrealistic standard to sustain imo

    ?

because number ones aren’t built the same in the streaming era lol

I wouldn't even say he deserves all the credit for that

Some of that has to go to like Wayne and cudi (bad discog but early Cudi was a moment there's no denying it) and Kanye

But drake definitely played a major part and inspired some of it
