    i talked to my high school teachers about music instead of having friends irl but i had friends on the internet who had similar tastes as me

    my high school english teacher's favorite band was the beatles and he also listened to hip hop like bone thugs-n-harmony

    i had 3 high school music teachers, one who was classically trained at piano, one who was trained at jazz, and one who was trained at singing

    the one who was classically trained at piano had radiohead as his favorite band and he taught a lesson on the beatles and motown one time

    what be wrong with ya’ll and wanting to live in a time you have no reference for outside of pictures and words online or in a book about it? why not go enjoy your local music scene or find a local music scene online and see the amazing that artists TODAY are creating instead of niggas that’s been dead or about to be dead?     There was no hip-hop in the 70s, but there was also no nu-metal, skater music, emo, dubstep, boardroom pop, bro country, stomp clap hey, date rape EDM, anime soundtracks, breakbeat, rage, hyperpop, digicore, vocaloid, AI music, or kieran press-reynolds microgenres. Outside of hip-hop the 2000s onwards are very dire.

    the 1980s and 1990s were the best decades for musical diversity

    the 1950s was the next best decade

    the 2000s, 2010s, and 2020s had more musical diversity than previous decades, but had less quality

    70s>>>>60s especially for black music (excluding jazz, bc 60s was a hell of a decade for jazz, but so was the 70s, imjust saying it's much closer when you include jazz)

    i also had a high school gym teacher who gave me a kinks cd (come dancing with the kinks) because he knew they were one of my favorite bands and an emerson, lake & palmer cd (pictures at an exhibition)

    That's a wack starting point for the Kinks :jay:

    I had a teacher that put me on White Stripes when they had just come out and that was like my Pandora's box for getting into music history cause they have so many great covers. Just dabbled in Sabbath, Metallica and like ELO before that.
