Maybe I’m tripping, but man every time I listen to music or songs, s*** just sounds so negative in the lyrics. And I know, there are plenty of artists that aren’t this way (one of my favorites is Fridayyy and his self titled album, AMAZING!!!) but the major ones who have a much large fanbase I’m noticing tend to do this.

Take for example the new Ariana album. Man I started playing it and off-rip she came in doubting herself and her relationship. I’m only using her as an example, not taking any type of shots. The album may contain positivity but the intro and song titles turned me off.

Like if music is energy, why are we so comfortable taking in all of this negative perspectives, lyrics, and sounds that trigger these negative emotional responses within us and the vibrational patterns around us?

And also, I get it that this might be how it has always been, but today I’m just noticing it more and more. Maybe these discussions have already happened, but let’s talk about it. What are your thoughts?

I stated that about the album, I was just using the lyrical content and titles as an example. I hear it’s a really good album

also positive s*** just doesnt sell like negative s***. people would rather ruminate in their suffering than manifest a better reality and be optimistic

Wouldn’t say this is positive, but when the economy dies bad there’s usually more songs about going out and having fun to get your mind off what’s going around you

I remember reading all that westernized spiritualism stuff too with The Secret, Master Key System, Joseph Murphy & Neville Goddard it‘s all good

We live in an uncomfortable world, art will reflect that sometimes. Incessant positivity and saccharine joy lose meaning when they reinforce a false reflection of our reality

Music is (largely) downstream of culture and people are unhappy

Also fwiw cynicism is in right now and positivity might be viewed as “corny”

Positivity won’t cure your depression but a positive mindset and optimistic disposition absolutely does improve quality life and how you’re perceived by others
