Feel like we have talked about this before to a degree, but with the recent news of Beyonce being snubbed out of any CMA Awards recently, this brings up to question as to believe does this truly exist...
when Post Malone essentialy did the same , but received positivity and acclaim? (initially)
Do we truly ask for peeps to stay in their lane or we let it wane
When folks bring up Drake being a "Culture vulture" For hopping on waves of popping artists and subgenres, hes met with controversy.
Would Beyonce not be guilty of doing the same s*** when she tries to pull off a country album after not recognizing the genre at all untill recently when its been on a commercial uptick? if we're gonna criticize Drake for it, were gonna have to be constistent dont ya think?
Regardless, I wanna say theres ALOT of racial issues revolved around Beyonce not getting play at ALL on any country stations (Also, it seems like Post is being welcome??? wtf) , but isn't it at least fair they at least keep her out of award nominations? For Acclaim's sake
I’m confused about what angle thread is taking. Are we talking about the hypocrisy of Post Malone being accepted by the country scene while Beyonce wasn’t or calling Beyonce a culture culture for going country?
Jelly Roll, by the way, has like 10+ hip hop projects on Apple Music and has been sweeping up awards at the CMAs

I honestly wanted to lean in on the Beyonce being a culture vulture part, but an intruding thought about post malone came up in the middle of writing this I truly had no clue what Post has been doing lately but I looked him up and realize hes doing some country s*** rn

I found Luke Bryan’s comment funny basically admitting it’s politics at these award shows and if you want to be invited you gotta play the game. Which is true at all of these award shows tbh I just think people not used to someone flat out stating it lol

Mind you this a white dude from Australia telling a black girl raised in the country south who grew up in the rodeo how to be country just say you racist bruh

I don't think so. She already dabbled a bit in country before musically and showed some country influence and respect for that side of her roots. it's not a total surprise that she could go further and pull it off, it didn't come out of nowhere. Plus it's not like Cowboy Carter sounds at all like the country music that is booming right now, it's more of her own unique fusion where country is just one of the ingredients. Where Post is actually attempting to just do the same exact thing Morgan Wallen is doing. i think that's also part of why she's not "stepping into the country world" or whatever like Luke Bryan said.
imo the way Beyonce brought in more country influences feels genuine. and besides she did brand it as specifically as Beyonce album and not a country album. it's true that it does come at a good time with country's current success but I really don't see it as her hopping on the trend
Post Malone and Beyoncé did not do the same route at all. Post networked himself, bey sent people to network for her.
boycott and bully Ian, 2hollis and Tommy Richman
not gonna lie I feel like some of the people who'd call Beyonce a trend hopper/opportunist probably didnt listen to the whole album that closely and just saw her put on a cowboy hat and heard Texas Hold Em selling it really short to just pretend she's cosplaying country
or maybe people just dont know much about country music in general to really have a frame of reference, which is fair

Cowboy Carter and the way it was marketed are not like how country music is running rn

Luke is from Georgia it’s Keith Urban who’s the Australian country singer but your point still stands

White man
I think it depends on who’s being gatekept and to what extent.
Some artists are vultures who want to take advantage of culture without respecting it or considering what’s best for it.
However, if you keep out everything left of center, the music never develops and gets better.
I say it’s a judgement call for each new artist if they should be gatekept

it's crazy how one-note his subject matter is
like even more than most of the other artists in the current mainstream country lane
