"Migos / Mobb Deep"
Yep. Lock thread
Lmao you not wrong tbh but it’s just generational bias
@op your list is definitely missing some like Three 6, De La, Run DMC, public enemy, I understand if people don’t fw 80s rap anymore but the group convo is different from solo MCs. Groups peaked earlier. Looking at it objectively, suggesting Migos surpassed Run DMC or public enemy or de La soul is just crazy talk
especially if we champion “catalog” and “impact”

I appreciate the effort and knowledge but also this is trash lol putting things like Deltron 3030 or Handsome Boy Modeling School in this discussion is just pure silliness lol. Also beastie at #1 is a ridiculous take lol
Kids see ghosts aren’t a better group than any actual group lol that’s just not fair and being silly. Let’s throw The Throne in there while we’re at it

1. We done w/ anything released before 1990 - put that s*** in the archives. NWA only gets the nod because they created a whole new soundscape and are influential to this day
2. Half this list is some dusty ass NY s*** and wu-tang still at 18
3. "Rap groups" release more than one album otherwise it would be dumb af to compare discogs
Three six, clipse and pharcyde I'm ok with putting in top 10 and we can argue about them stacking up to Migos

Kids See Ghosts
Idc where you put migos though as long as its not like top 3 lol
Mobb is the best rap group of all time

That’s BS, if we doing that to the 80s then NWA gotta go too, their s*** dated as f*** too no one wanna play that album today. Public Enemy and De La Soul are influential today too, De La created a whole soundscape of sampling and created skits in hip hop which stuck to this day, what are we doing? That’s picking and choosing
Any time a rapper has a skit on their album, every time Tyler dresses up like an Easter basket, it goes back to De La Soul influence
But we only champion the gangsta influence
i see the play. Erase the whole 80s except the most vulgar act lol ignore everything else all the creative weird s*** all the political s*** and even just the rock star s*** that run dmc did. This is depressing

what's so special about migos? all they rap about is money, b****es, and clothes. they aren't philosophical. they only sound good because they have nice flows and rap on good beats, but that's it.

I love Prince Paul
But having HBMS directly after De La Soul is the most ridiculous part of the list fam
De La have insane classics, imagine releasing that run of 4 albums in a row, it's nuts. Even Grind Date is great too.
They only lack props due to there being no official digital access to their Tommy Boy albums until 2023. They lost out on a whole generation of fans who still were able to listen to & come to revere ATCQ etc as titans/legends.
(Even Jay-Z lost out on a chunk of the young fanbase due to those couple of years where his music was Tidal exclusive, so imagine missing out on the whole digital era, damn near 20+ years)
Off top of my head they ain't above these groups, for me:
Outkast
Mobb Deep
Wu Tang Clan
Three 6 Mafia
NWA
The Luniz
The Fugees
Clipse
Bone Thugs
The Roots
Dipset
Geto Boys
Public Enemy
Westside Connections
GUnit
The Federation
Hieroglyphics
Hot Boys
Pharcyde
8Ball & MJG
Bricksquad
The Lox
213
ASAP Mob
Cypress Hill
Raider Klan
TRU
