With the decade almost done, I've been trying to put together a list of hip-hop/R&B albums that I'd call 10/10. It's close but I think the 2010s had more perfect albums. If we're including other genres 2000s definitely had more for me though.

    2000s 10/10 albums:

idk that's subjective to what someone thinks is a 10/10

though personally I'd say this decade has slightly more

If we're only talking rap/R&B its kinda close. Id probably say 2010s have more but im more familiar with this decade.

Yeah it belongs more in the 11/10 category but meh

  • that JT album is no 10/10

Eminem when he was still good. GRODT The documentary college dropout gotta go with the 2000s

  • Dec 27, 2019

off the top of my head I can think of about 11 albums I'd give a 10 to that came out in the 2000s

    whereas there's a couple more I'd give a 10 this decade

so this decade slightly beats the 2000s for me

Teens of Denial is an indie/alternative album and I didn't include those. NWTS and TPAB both have a few skips towards the back half for me and Watching Movies doesn't.

Looking at the tracklist TPAB has Institutionalized, You Ain't Gotta Lie, and the last track. NWTS has Pound Cake and 305.

They're both great albums don't get me wrong they're just not 10/10 to me

Institutionalized is underrated as f***. Might be the worst song on the album but it’s still great. You Ain’t Gotta Lie a skip to you ?!? You tweaking

Mortal Man is a dope song but I don’t really play it and the second half is a one listen kind of thing. Pound Cake is one of the greatest instrumentals this decade and both rappers bring great verses besides some wack Jay lines.

As an oldhead who remembers the whole 2000s, 2010s >>>> 2000s. Not even close. 2000s especially 2005-2009 was such a drought. Everything was either a remix of a 90s song or produced by Timbaland, Pharrell, Max Martin or Polow da Don. Constant wave of overproduced yet mediocre braggadocio. 2000s is easily the worst decade in music on record.
