Just to be clear, for those of you who are hating on me for disliking MGS2,

If you loved MGS2 then there is no way in hell that you were alive and old enough to experience the release of the original MGS in 98. If you would have gone through that while it was happening, MGS2 simply would be the s***tiest game you’ve ever played, just by sheer comparison.

So unfortunately you are exempt from giving your opinion if you weren’t at least 10 years old in 1998. Sorry kids.

3 > 1 > 2 > 5 > 4

4 is better than 5 alone by virtue of its story, even if it was insane. 5 is extremely shallow andnot deserving of being a mainline title. its like a spin off a la peace walker

Every mainline MGS game is great, if you don't play them in order you missing out.

2 and 3 s*** on 1 lol

only niggas that dont like 2 are those still butthurt & can't get over that they cant look at snake the whole time, but the game is still top notch itself

guess start with 3 tho if you still mad at the whole raiden thing lol

4 is my personal fav, but mainly because how everything in the series so far comes to a boil in it

MGS 2 and 3 are tied for me, 2 has the best story and 3 has the best gameplay

For the life of me, I honestly cannot understand how this isn’t the general consensus among everybody.

Mgs2 still holds up pretty well graphically. Them controls though

mgs2 is kojima's yeezus. game is very polarizing and doesnt try at all to be a straightforward sequel but i think its held up the best of all mgs games (exception to snake eater maybe - i think mgs2's level design is better) and pushed more games to go balls out. time has only been kind to its meta narrative and even its political commentary feels more applicable today.

mgs 3 close second for still delivering on a more mainstream game with great gameplay and story. probably the best prequel out there? game also probably taught younger generations how dirty and criminal the cold war was and how were still dealing with its consequences than any textbook today.

4th is still great but its story is all over the place. kojima basically wrote himself into a corner having to try and tie everything up in one game
