i never subscribed to this mentality. i stanned Lil Wayne
Wayne not supposed to be real? Dude made P**** Monster
I never had a phase like this, the closest thing for me was acting like I hated Wayne during his Carter 2 to Carter 4 run. It wasn't until Carter 3 dropped that I knew I couldn't act like the man wasn't the best in the world at his craft at the time. I was young and trying to rebel against whatever was most popular, forgive me lmao
Wouldn’t say I ever had that mentality, but Tha Tour and Sremmlife were the two projects that had me like,
“I thought these niggas was supposed to be trash ”
that was mrw Excuse My French dropped lol

u clearly wasnt on the internet in mid 00s. he was getting trashed too
I still remember when Take Care came out and people were clowning Drake and saying how soft he was. 10 years later they’re his biggest fans

I used to only listen to earl / Joey badass / doom / nas then I heard hard in da paint and that was over with
Wayne
I never went through this phase
Oddly enough I ended up discovering Danny Brown because I was listening to what was considered "real hip-hop" and he popped up in my suggestions
