Context matters. At first, I thought this was some racist mass shooter situation, but my perspective changed when I read more about it.

I don't know how calling police would help when people are charging towards at him within seconds. It's a fight-or-flight situation. One of the guys who got shot and injured was running towards him with a pistol.

I'm not going to type out the entire timeline of what took place, but here's the general idea of it. Far more complicated than how it's told.
