    Agreed

    But that’s all artists tbh

99% of artists don’t go out on top

They go out when their s*** gets trash

    Yup

We have been conditioned to this idea that everyone who comes out is a GOAT

Hell nah the 2010’s only had like 3-4 people TOTAL who will be remembered like that

And look at 2000’s rappers. Juggernauts like TI are fading away into nothing in terms of their position in the zeitgeist

    It’s inevitable

I hate how Kanye has handled his album releases since TLOP. I only like 2 songs on JIK. Donda was a mess. Donda 2 no comment. And it doesn’t help he’s been such a d*** head lately. He’s definitely tarnishing his legacy.

But honestly social media in general is tarnishing a lot of legacies. We have more access to celebs than ever before and we are truly learning how corny a lot of these people really are.

    Timeline parallels with breakdown

    He’s not the same person

Meds/ being unstable are the underlying culprit

Kinda outta his control tbh. Seems like he’s doing his best to just keep doing what he knows.

It’s lowkey inspiring to see somebody power through all that’s come with his new mental state

The thing for me too is that Ye has always been like this. Look at the Katrina Telethon stuff. It's just that social media started becoming bigger so he had more of a direct outlet to his fans. If we had Twitter in 05 we would've seen the same stuff (imo)

His whole ideology is just to be a contrarian tbh no matter what side. He goes against the general public’s opinion no matter what and always has. It’s just that the ideals most of us have are the general ideals so he just goes against that

amongst music nerds yes but if you bring his name up to all more people they either cringe or just make fun of him smh

and now? happened to almost every legendary artist. people made fun of MJ daily in the past and same with prince (had lots of mid projects but is still a legend).

who the f*** cares about now. everything will be different in 20-30 years.

  • Certain dudes just can get away with s***. Ye first 6 albums are masterpieces so it’s like whatever he does now may not be top notch but given his art in the past I’ll never really s*** on his musical legacy. The outside s*** is a different story

  • Aug 18, 2022

and kanye never did anything really worse. 99% of the people wont care about this s*** anymore in 5-10 years. we all are just in a small bubble because we’re here on this forum.

Can't put it on The Culture it's just rappers aging and continuing to release music sometimes it works and sometimes they lost their flair

@2001 this is facts, most of the artists or entertainers that get considered legends are the ones who die young or retire with a small amount of truly great work they created. as you do something for longer periods of time it's harder to amaze people. it's also easier to disappoint, since as you gain experience you also develop a comfort zone, and become less prone to push your own boundaries. when you get old as a Rapper it's very difficult to please the fans you had as a young person.

Kanye Nas Jay-Z Wu-Tang Wayne are still legends ofc dropping mid doesn’t make you not a legend

In rock music usually 10-20 year old bands drop duds like Metallica but they’re still legends
