The crazy thing is artists Kenny Kanye and Wayne HAVE the commercial success yet it’s never used as the defining argument for why their music is good like it is for Drake
and critical acclaim..
People in this thread turning their noses up to streaming numbers while making takes based on anecdotal evidence
So now we have to reach for hypotheticals because our argument doesn’t hold up. All my statements have been based on reality. Try to do the same
You can’t answer the question because you’re sheep and can’t form an opinion with out the help of some article and score from a random critic
F***ing sheep
grodt is a classic because of impact and influence
But nobody in their right mind would say this album deserves more than a 7.5/10 score. It has a perfect MC score.
Oh my lord
drake's commercial success isn't subjective at all lol
I work in this industry, and I can tell you if you have enough $$, you can have all the commercial success you want. It's subjective.
we aren't talking about quality though, we're talking about commercial dominance
Then I’m out. I could give a damn about commercial success. When we talk about great artists the sales age a given.
Let’s talk about the actual music

Y’all only use critic scores when it helps your argument and narrative
50 cent never had critical acclaim but he hailed as one of the greatest rappers of all time & has an undisputed classic
808s was literally panned by critics but according to y’all logic it isn’t a good album because it has low critic scores :cosby:
Quality is subjective

Aight then why didn't Kanye or Wayne have the same success that Drake has? Because at some point, these guys were the one with the major push as the #1 artists on their major labels lol

drake streaming numbers have been proven as being heavily boosted by the high number of tracks his albums have.
Drake makes like 25+ tracks albums, while his peers drop 12-16 tracks at most

I’m not answering the question because it’s not based in reality. Russ has never made an album worthy of mass critical acclaim.

Nicki & Tyga had the same push as Drake why aren’t they in Drake’s position ?

quality isn't subjective.
All the classic albums you can think of are universally acclaimed, except a few that are classic because of impact/influence
and even some die hard 50 cent admit grodt is a 7/10.
Having an impact =/= making good music.

808s being "panned" by critics is such hyperbole.
It got pretty good reviews but the style detour kept it from matching the acclaim of his previous stuff.
Jesus is King got panned, not 808s
matter fact kendrick had more industry push to help him become the star that he is lol and he's still not on the level of drake
They playing NWTS and More Life on the radio in 2019?
Let me know
Explain what makes NWTS, 2019, the Billboard 200, and what I said in my original reply connected
