yea but do u think he made it like that w/ the goal 2 be controversial or is it ppl just being reactionary

kendrick isn’t dumb enough to know that saying that word isn’t gonna spark controversy, his HOPE is that people will understand the intention, but you don’t say that in 2022 and think “yeah no controversy should be had”

How do you know he got those personal demons out of the way? This seems hella parasocial

I hate this new notion that music which is deep/personal is just instantly better than music which isn't. It's so pretentious

It’s better for different people. Some people look for emotional catharsis in music and that’s what Kendrick gave. Doesn’t necessarily make it objectively better or worse, some people might just connect with it more

I give it to drake, I feel like he understands momentum? better I guess, he put out something he knew was a relative risk and then followed it up w something more in line w what his fans expect, at a prolific rate…
Kendrick is like one foot in one foot out on embracing the ‘peoples champ’ aspect of rap and this more remote persona …for a mainstream artist at least,
like I know he’s not a numbers guy but I’m sure he wanted to do bigger numbers on this album after a long time away

Kendrick, we're still going to be talking about mr morale years down the line

I think people took this album for granted at release because it's not what people expected from Kendrick after the anthemic pop rap of the DAMN/Black Panther albums and/or because the heavy subject matter didn't connect with younger audiences; it will it due time though.

That doesn’t make his year better..

Some of the best rap albums of all time were spawned from controversy.

Controversy is like a focal piece of hiphop.

  • I see CLB an album with no slurs still doing over 20k a week

Kendrick's album is a chore to get through. One of the worst of the year
