so? do mixtapes not count cause ya fav doesnt have any or cause they ass?

It’s so much easier to rap over an established beat someone else has chosen. Mixtapes with original production count 100% but freestyles over pre existing hits

    There is no perfect artists

At times wutang could do no wrong. RZA is an inspiration that’s deeper than rap and his beats are spiritual.

Kanye in a different way too.

Add madlib, nas, outkast or even drake - I have loved them all over a long period but to be honest they have made embarrassingly bad songs too.

If you get that much attention for that long, some ideas are gonna come across weak. But you gotta allow for that - the freedom to do things people don’t like is the key to making anything that’s actually worthwhile.

SGP has over 1600 songs according to dismissyourself, and I could throw on a shuffled playlist of them all and not need to hit skip - that’s why he is the one

    Real ass post

    SGP the goat

labor days is a great album, but even if you put that over every drake album... drake still has arguably 2 classics (nwts and tc) and other albums like iyrtitl, more life and so far gone that are considered good while aesop only has one classic. i also forgot about the kimya and aesop album i listened to that one too

Did not know Kimya and Aesop had a project together

    Sounds like my worst nightmare

the thing with discographies is that you niggas often just mention artists that you really like, rather than other artists with highly acclaimed, high quality projects in their discography, there was literally a single MF DOOM mention in here and his s*** is pretty top-notch, and yet he’s overlooked in favor for s*** like tribe and/or OutKast etc? cmon now

I like old school hiphop but I’ve never been a doom fan outside of maybe 2 albums

well that isn’t very fair in a discussion about the best discographies isn’t it?

even though you don’t enjoy his music it should still be taken into consideration lol

this is why imo “the best” shouldn’t be gauged by how much one loves something and rather it’s impact, influence and longevity

it’s harder to garner credibility too.. which makes wayne’s mixtapes even MORE impressive

It depends on the individual and what he/she considers valuable lol

I love MF DOOM but he's trash to some people (every artist is trash to someone), why would they lie and call his discography GOAT lol. Aside from his mid-00's run he ain't even active like that and some of his side projects are mid. Hasn't had a classic album in ages either.

  • Mmm Hmm 😆

Having a GOAT discog isn’t about the absence of mid, it’s about having a lot of GOAT material

    Kanye f***ing West

    Only correct answer

Here’s the difference. I don’t personally f*** with doom, but for the style of rap he makes his discography is good. I do f*** with Wayne when he’s making good music but he rarely makes quality music and from a studio standpoint hasn’t had a real quality album since 2008

im saying y’all be getting mad at when niggas like wayne get mentioned because you don’t like his music as much as the next nigga’s if you want to have an actual discussion about “best discographies” there should be other factors other than how much you enjoy a particular artists’ music, not that im trying to impose my standard onto others, but it just seems way more fair tbh.

don’t gotta lie and say it’s goat, but it has to be a name that’s brought up and respected either way lol

it’s like despising kanye so you don’t bring up his name when you’re talking about the most influential rap artists ever

The best? Without giving it a lot of consideration I can’t really say, but I can give you 10 Discogs better than Wayne without much thought

so from when he was “good” you don’t think his best material doesn’t stand up on its own two feet for “GOAT material”?

it isn’t like he had one very good album and then fell off, he made a s*** ton of quality within his prime

From a studio albums standpoint he has 2 near/classic albums and one really good album. Out of how many? What 12-13 solos? That’s not really a great average

we’re talking only his best material

we don’t s*** on prince for his 2010s material because of how much ridiculously great s*** he put out when he was at his apex

The question is who has the best discog and 3 quality albums from 04-08 when his career spans from the late 90’s until now isn’t really that great
