Don't get a convertible for legit track racing, they weigh more and are usually less rigid in the chassis
Also a manual will be more fun if you know how to use it
My b i havent came back to the thread, ive been doing more research & been asking people i know in cali and my state to keep an eye out for good examples of stuff im looking for
300zx is a pain in the ass to work on.
I know but its so good
Its a pain and the bmw is a money sinkhole

All cars are money sinkholes. I got 3 of them, I know.
if you ainβt got an SRT you already lost
If you aint got a Type R Aventador 5.0 V20 9 speed SS E Sport Limited Edition Mach 1 Anniversary Trim in exclusive first year Green you a whole ass loser b
How much are they pushing?
Depends but i also want to do more than go in a straight line
just remember it dont matter if you win by and inch or a mile.. winning is winning
also always live your life a quarter mile at a time
Faxx π

Yeah, a convertible im trying to avoid unless its a better deal by a substantial amount
We have a basic oval in my city and the next city over has a legit circuit that is also used for events n such
Wanna start with the oval and then head over
Man how do I get into this??
I got a good car to mod up but this s*** is so f***ing expensive
Its a lot cheaper if you source parts & can work on it yourself for basic stuff, or at least know someone that is willing to help you through it
Its also why im trying to get a car that is decent out the box and can do something already, then it also has the platform to become more when i want it to be
All cars are money sinkholes. I got 3 of them, I know.
This is tru, my dad loves everything 60s and 70s
Beems especually tho, especially the 90s and pre ones
Lot of reliability issues in general, but especially if you want it to be performance based instead of stanced tf out just standing there
What u working on?
Official Car Thread!
What finna tryin do:
Im in USA and thinking about getting into track racing here n there locally in my city and the next one over for fun.
I only know people that street race or drag lol. So, not very much technical or "legit" racers. Im into Track & Rally racing, but wanna start with track cuz rally is even more expensive & F***ING SCARY lmao.
Anyways, i wanted to know the opinion on these 3 cars for track racing. I found at least one example of each that i want. Theyre all American tho since i live in USA its easier and cheaper to get a car in the country of origin, for stuff such as parts, repairs, advice & info etc. So i dont have to worry about beating it up, upgrading & getting information.
They are 90s cars, getting them used (ofc) with a budget of $4000 to $10,000 for the car itself in full, mixed of performance plus looks, dont care if Manual or Auto but prefer Manual & high miles dont matter except a cheaper car lol. Idk when i will fully pull the trigger tho, but here's cars im looking at in the order im mostly excited for atm (the colors of the picture is the color of the found main examples im looking to actually buy):
1. 1993 Ford Mustang GT Foxbody Convertible 5.0 auto drive (this one i almost bought already):
Mine is soft top convertible as mentioned above tho, but cant find any pics with the soft top up on google lol:

2. 1991 Chevy Camaro RS 350 V6 5 Speed Manual (would want to put a v8 in it at some point, especially if i want to drag it):
3. Chevrolet Corvette C4 V8 5.7 1994 auto (this is the car i looked at the most, the 80s to 90s c4 ones):

I would also wanna throw a body kit on this mane and repaint it if i could, which would cost me a good few more grand but would be so heat

Anyways these are my choices im looking at. I genuinely like all 3 of these cars and any help or advice is appreciated from maintenance, realiability, peeformance or personal experience etc.!
5.0 mustang gt is the best
I wanted to do this after i watched Initial D but never went through with it
I come from a big car family on my dads side and a motorcycle family on my moms
My dad is/was a staright up west coast lowrider nigga of the 80s/90s and did some street racing in the 80s n 90s.
Two of my 3 earliest memories in life is my dad strapping me and my older bro in his new impala 67 for a ride around the block before taking it to the shop
Then the other of me being in the back of his 90s big blovk chevy truck street drag racing a dude late at night with 2Pac Amitionz as a Ridah blasting loud AF on his subs shaking tf out my seat and soul lmao π

Real 1.
Thats what its looking like π€
Gonna spend the rest of the year looking for a decent to good example of the 3, mainly the Stang.
Hoepfully i be ready to roll legitimately sometime next year after basic tuning n detailing π€
Go the turbo route imo
Gonna turbo the foxbody or gonna supercharge the camaro when it comes to it

I mean, any car that's 30+ years old is going to have issues. Get what you want from the beginning and work from there. That or you'll be stuck with a car you really don't care about and don't want to work on.
e30
Nah thats a real money pit
If i was stancing it out where its gonna barely do anything, or if i was gonna drift it out where you strip it then yeah maybe π€

Faxx thats what im doing.
Thats why the cars ive been browsing for are stuff i also genuinely like just in general.
I know it mainly takes time too more than anything, a paint job can take months alone.
So thats why i want to a decent to good example of a car i genuinely like alreafy off rip that is drivable already instead of a legit from scratch project car.
Thinking about getting a 2000 to 2006 Lincoln LS car as a daily too.

Nah my E30 is super cheap for parts. I can still find a lot of the OEM stuff online brand new.
My 280zx on the other hand...

Forreal? Im competent but im not extremely handy & always heard of bmws being real easy or expensive af.
The datsun i imagine tho, older nissans are usually tougher and not much people know about them outside of enthusiasts
I want to do a bmw or a nissan after this. I almost bought a clean 240sx convertible a few years back, but i had a health problem that didnt allow me to drive then so i had to skip π

honestly working on them is easy..well thought out design. just parts are so damn expensive
yeah you definitely need a code reader handy cause the ecu/dme acts up at least once a month
