    Thats not what I said.

    You said who’s responsible?

Who’s to say TI making Meek put Travis on the biggest mixtape of all time not put him on Kanye’s radar? Especially coming before this new upcoming star outta LA that Ye also pushed…on a tape that features his GOOD artist as well…

  • while i found out about him thru ye, ti might've done more for him, especially pre-rodeo

Kanye heard of Travis cause he emailed anthony kilhoffer who then showed kanye some random music videos

And there’s panda’s in the South Pole

You believe every too good to be true story these artists tell? When the answers are a lot clearer lmao. TI and Kanye are longtime homies, he never had to email killhoffer

Anthony said it himself he managed him at one point….

“The TI thing was in motion too but the Kanye association put him over the top” - 5 min mark

And the “TI thing” was Killhoffer’s biggest regret…so it just circles back to who was willing to take a chance on him financially and that was TIP in order to lead to eventual success. No knock to the development that occurred under Ye, but there’s a lot TI side was responsible for especially trap Travis which imo did more

OP CHANGE THE THREAD TITLE TO “WHO TOOK A CHANCE ON TRAVIS” NOT “WHO IS MORE RESPONSIBLE” SO VINO CAN BE RIGHT

Honestly you could entertain an argument for both contributing equally?

TI giving Travis that initial platform and also surrounding him with nothing but Atlanta artists did him wonders and it continues to benefit him today. When you think of that group of artists in Migos, Young Thug, Lil Baby, Gunna, TM88, Southside, etc., you also think of Travis Scott, and it’s because he was placed around Thug and Quan and Migos during that New Atlanta renaissance and sort of was looked at like a weird cousin of them

TI gave him the initial push and the proximity to the southern artists and I guess the small amount of streets credibility / cool factor that comes with it, so his music could be heard by niggas. AS WELL as Kanye giving him the white people and white adjacents

Why is Kanyes fan base so white?

I mean both things go hand in hand…TI took a chance financially and was responsible for spreading Travis’ name behind the scenes and placing him within needed opportunities

Kanye did the same thing to Travis with Cruel Summer and Yeezus he did to Cudi with 808s, and Sean with Graduation, and Chance/Vic with TLOP…but you got it lmao

Although there’s truth to it, I was being tongue-in-cheek and it’s not that simple

But there’s definitely someone else who can articulate it better than me if anyone here cares to

But to be 100%, Kanye’s fanbase is worldwide

I mean, there is a specific Travis sound he’s scared to lean into cause it can get corny and it’s that bubbly Butterfly Effect, Highest In The Room, Watch sound he was cultivating.

He’s shifted away from it but that was uniquely him. Pick Up the Phone etc. as much as Thug was on that song, the sound was Travis’ imo and also shoutout Jamie XX ofc

Oooo yeah I see what ur saying

That bubbly Vinylz type sound. We got it a lot during the Birds era

  • Vino

Gave him so much mainstream he had to run back to Atlanta for multiple classic singles and projects for years and still do. Fein, Type S***, Cinderella, Stuff, Trance

Well he did become very close with Metro

Yea I think Birds is one of my favorite Travis albums for that reason, it was uniquely him in a way. He was really making some new s*** on there. I wish we got a project like that again

It’s Ye. The Kanye association and being a GOOD Music artist did more for him than being a Grand Hustle artist. Features on cruel summer, producing a couple songs for Yeezus, etc.

Even Soulja Boy said when Migos first met Travis they werent fw him and he had to tell them that’s Kanye’s artist yall need to fw him

This. I remember he had his first in person interview ever with GOOD artists and he didn't even know how to hold the mic properly. Being around those creatives really helped him

  • Kanye. Good did more for him with the artists he was around.

All TI did was bring him to a larger audience which would have inevitably happened. Considering the negative trajectory of Grand Hustle it’s a good thing he went to Good

name a megastar with a non majority white fanbase

    Beyonce maybe?

  • Classique

TI did a lot for artists in the early 10’s other artists take credit for

TI really don’t got an ego I woulda been bragging this whole time

    I loved that era

  • someone said Ye never been on a trap Travis beat . U Forget watch?

  • Jan 5

Could argue both. The ye and good music co-sign was a big reason for a lot of his early hype and attention but seems like grand hussle set him up and put him in the room with other artists more than good music was doing for any of there up and coming/non-established artists.

Gotta remember there’s been a lot good music artists that have had some hype going due to there signing but nothing comes of it.

Was Travis the last artist Ye successfully commanded everybody to find cool? He used to just have that touch, feel like once he started posting up w him in pics everyone just fell in line.

Chance but he fumbled it. Arguments could be made for Carti with Donda era since Ye was boosting WLR
