True, I forgot about Boosie and Gates. I don’t mean he literally wouldn’t exist I’m just saying he was influenced by him.

I swear him saying he was influenced by Chicago as well. I could be wrong tho it might have been Quando.

Idc what he said Yb is 100% influenced by chicago

Everybody in that age range is

I don’t hear it tbh. The music YB is making now just a more polished version of the stuff he was making since he was like 15/16.

Yall think Durk just came out in 2018 thats yall problem

Durk was making classics when YB was in middle school

To be fair Durk has more impact on the industry bc the industry is based on connections and Youngboy has never been one to mingle with rappers. He was like 16 or 17 when he popped and already had the attitude of not reaching out to people for features.

can't find the video interview rn but If I'm remembering right he said that all the features he did are people reaching out to him not the other way around

Hmm I would disagree. That may be true if we are comparing relationships and industry friends. Durk started getting notoriety around 2012/13 and helped create a new genre and is considered a pioneer in the drill movement which has spawned imitations across the globe. If we poled many active rappers Durk would be listed as an influence.

YB influence has not been truly felt yet. The next batch of rappers getting out of high school may chalk their influence up to YB though. However, at this point we cannot say YB ushered a new sound in.

Durk is a solidified OG and pioneer.

Was just listening to this. I’d say Durk right now he been doing this s*** for years now. Paved the way and perfected that street melodic rap

Durk is better IMO - he has better projects overall. People also like to downplay Durk’s impact on music and culture as a whole but I think YB wouldn’t exist without Durk. Both are talented and both can exist in the same industry.

I disagree about that projects part, AI youngboy 2 better than every durk project

  • Jan 22, 2022

YoungBoy and Durk the two most talented rappers alive

Ask yourself this would melodic street/drill music exist without Durk??

Which artist out of the two helped pioneer an entire sound and moved culture.

YB is talented and a case can be made form him but at this current level of impact on the industry he is no where near Durk.

    Yes

  • Jan 22, 2022

I got YB by a hair but I listen to both heavy, both more versatile than they get credit for and got tons of great songs in their discographies. they were literally my top 2 most listened artists last year so I hate that they got irreparable beef
