    Dylan popularized the protest song
Dylan laid important foundations for Psychedelic Rock (surreal, absurd lyricism, droney/floating hypnotic song structures)
Dylan is basically the OG modern singer songwriter
Him returning to his folk roots/ following a country-rock style pretty much changed the entire musical landscape back then

just said that first part and elric said mean things

Yeah I know he did.... how many protest songs can you name? I can think of like 6 that mattered and they were all half a century ago

I'm just saying his original "protest song" thing evolved into a much more all encompassing search for truth is your lyrics and the spirit of that goes way deeper with its influence than everyone that makes topical protest songs. What's Going On etc were borne of this energy.

    Ooo

Funny seeing a lot of you riding so hard for mj trying to be down yet 15 years ago he was getting clowned and joked on by black people everywhere. But he’s passed so I guess it’s just a form of respect.

Early hiphop forums on the internet also used to hate on pac and call him a ballerina etc (also made fun of him for getting shot). History just keeps repeating itself in terms of huge artists getting hated on in the moment only to be shown appreciation when they cant see it anymore
