and like i was saying before it's just a matter of how important sheer popularity on the general public is when trying to discuss influence. Everyone's grandmother knows Beat It, but Dylan directly inspired Sam Cooke to write A Change Is Gonna Come and performed before MLK"s "I have a dream" speech so is it really crazy for someone to think Dylan's influence mattered more?
maybe it's just 2 separate questions of who was more influential on the general public vs. who was more influential specifically within their artistic field. but imo just trying to make this thread purely into "who is more popular Dylan or MJ?" as some people are is just a waste of time. might as well make a thread asking who is more popular Drake or Kendrick or something

yes, Michael Jackson was more popular and no one is denying that
but it's possible for a song like Blowin in the Wind to be more influential/significant to the world compared to some MJ hits even though the MJ hits were obviously heard millions more times
Ive heard several artists be influenced by Mj in their music ( I like mj so I can hear/see his style in other's music/dancing easily)
idk bout bob dylan (except him being involved in the civil rights era and getting the first nobel prize for literature awarded to a music lyricist)
can you briefly explain his impact or direct me to somewhere to learn about it?

i'm not even a Dylan expert at all so I'm not sure the best resource but there are probably dozens of books worth reading.
