Imo, Travis is Anti-Cudi.
He represents the opposite of what Cudi preaches against in his music.
@Jbreezyondeck
hmm this is interesting. Do you think that’s due to him embracing the commercial success of his music or that’s just the type of artist he always was? The influences are obvious but it is like a jarring contrast when you look at their music

Tbh, I think it's that, but I honestly feel like Travis looked up to the worst aspects of Scott than what made Scott/Cudi a uplifting figure in the first place as an artist.
Cudi's mission statement was to make the kids and young adults to understand they're not alone in this world and he go through struggles and demons as well.
Travis represents the opposite of that plus he indulges in the darker parts of that lifestyle.
The Mr Rager character was never supposed to be someone to look up to. Cudi wanted to be better than that and be more matured minded.
Travis is exactly Mr Rager, but the worst version of that.
That's why I strive to be like Cudi now than what he was in 2009-10 lmfaoo
Travis looks up to that particular era of Cudi where he was struggling and he was a Coke Addict.

That’s a real as f*** breakdown my brother this is why I love this place
No shade and not to sound corny because I kinda see what you’re saying but do people really have an emotional connection to Travis Scott’s music like that? Like Cudi was notoriously emotional in his music which is what built that rapport I don’t get that vibe from Trav at all
almost getting knocked out at the show, my homie disappearing in a crowd surge at the same show and then reappearing on our favorite song was quite emotional
owl pharaoh kinda deep in Travis’ unique way. Same with Rodeo and Utopia.

I think Travis makes great music for the most part (at least up to ASTROWORLD) tbf

I get what you mean but Cudi was emotional as a Writer
Now I’m not even talking about the fact that Travis uses ghostwriters, but it’s just that most of Travis’s songs aren’t very personal.
It’s an emotional “vibe” that you get from the beats and his delivery, but if we’re talking substance of the songs, even Insano and MOTM3 are head and shoulders above Travis’s music. Let alone projects like MOTM 1 and 2, Indicud, A Kid Named Cudi.

Cudi definitely has more substance, but he’s also a master of just a vibe. Insano so slept on

At one point they did. Remember the “Travis Scott saved my life” meme

Yeah, but that was just lil play off of people saying that Cudi's music saved their lives.

I thought that was a meme damn lol
I thought that was a meme damn lol
It actually was, but it was supposed to sound like lil bro and big bro s***.
The only 2 artists that are actually close is Juice and XXX.
If you had given both of them all of Travis producers, they would be deemed Cudi's sons.
Yeah, but that was just lil play off of people saying that Cudi's music saved their lives.
Nah it came from that Netflix documentary where the kid was crying. He said Travis saved his life
Owl Pharoah era up until I wanna say Birds or Astro before he started selling
out with all the collabs he was seen as an artist that really connected with the youth at the time.

This gonna be minimizing but f*** it, them Travis saved my life niggas are just rock fans who finally got a semi-hardcore mainstream rockstar in their youth. Cudi to a lesser extent was the same s***
