  • They don't know any 80's rappers. The oldest rapper they listen to is probably 21 Savage

Why would new rappers want to collab with rappers who they didn’t grow up on, don’t listen to, and don’t mesh with musically?

cause niggas don’t want to have an honest conversation as to why we’re still glazing 40-60 year old rappers when those rappers weren’t doing the same at our ages. 2010s era rappers done more than enough featuring 90s/2000s artists on they come up and now look where we’re at…them 90s/2000s artists still think they 25 and the genre not growing

Blaming the OG's for the genre not growing

That ain't their job. And theres lots of examples of 90s 00s guys having guest verses from 80s guys.

exactly, but the more they keep moving off of nostalgia that is pushed higher than the present moment, and the fans gladly pushes it higher because the artist can’t let go of their past, and the fan who may have been 8 years old when Jay-Z was president of Def Jam, the more the present genre doesn’t grow as nostalgia can never be let go…it’s a simple concept brother and why we have to watch 45 year old Usher get rejected by a 24 year old whose probably looking at him like he’s a Motown singer like Jay and them were looking at those OGs when they were of similar age GROWING the genre lmfao

the same OGs today who didn’t care about their OGs when they were coming up and moved in the present moment are now gatekeepers with nostalgia and moving like they not nearing 50. Thug probably the only one not relying on his past to push what’s going on around him now with the youngins

Because rappers from the 80’s are basically antithetical to hiphop artists today
