Ngl i kind of miss the anticipation months in advance with artists doing multiple interviews/late night tv shows etc and gaining insight into their thought process before listening to the album. Why do yall think that isnt a thing anymore? Is it solely because of streaming?

    After Hours?

  • Idk I kinda like the no rollout approach cause I won't get burned out with any singles, hearing the whole thing for the first time improves the album listening experience for me

I like the way things are now. Imagine a rapper hyping up a project for months just for it to be mid.

Also , Yeezus & BEYONCÉ made it ok to drop mainstream albums with little to no promo

fr these fools talking about how everything is mid but subsequently saying that the album and music video as a format is played out

    Yes but mostly after release

    I meant pre-release promo

Beyoncé dropped literally out of nowhere and Yeezus hype was carried by tweets , word of mouth and low quality performance / DJ set vids

  • May 12, 2020

High Off Life just had 5 singles and an XXL interview

Promos are there I think you're just looking at the wrong artists

Wasn’t it like a 2 month build up tho ? That was really short promo time for 2013 superstar standards

they’re still a thing they’re just not as rigorous mostly
