there's been countless times where im listening to an album full of 'Track Title ft. Rapper/s' but then songs will have a singer prominently featured throughout and its just 'Track Title' and i have to search the internet to find who's singing on it. Im just wondering why so often, unless the singer is really popular, they dont get credited the same way as other artists
i think there could be a sexism element to it considering how, in my experience, its usually been women singers who aren't given feature credits whereas i cant think of any examples where a man went uncredited. keep in mind though i am just speculating and ive done 0 actual research

they probably aren't credited bc they're background vocalists not rly on a verse or hook. they get called in and used for a certain purpose like a session pianist
Jk OP I think its cuz sometimes the singer’s contribution may not be as significant. Sometimes artists are weird with how they feature artists. What are some examples that you think could be sexist tho?

Like when Swae Lee got mad at Trav when all he did was get on the track and say "Someone Said"

Yea exactly. Do we really count background vocals as a full on feature?
Like yall remember when Rocky went on that spree of listing straight up adlibs from Carti as features

sometimes they provide vibe and are more background noise.. also, popularity.. fans will see a chris brown has a song with this no name person and be turned off... it's marketing

Giveon went uncredited

Swae actually released that song. What if he had a verse on it and Trav cut it to just say “Someone said” the same way that the first beat of Sicko mode was actually a song that Trav cut to the first minute
Giveon went uncredited
Giveon was listed as a feature when DLDT was released officially. Just wasn’t on the initial SoundCloud upload.

That might only be because by that time people knew who it was and Giveon released a project by that time and actually developed a pretty big fanbase

It was smart to keep his name off the track title at first. Forced people to search for him and listen to his own tracks. People heard the track and said
"Sampha "
"Oh no that guy is great lemme find out who it is "
