You heard L U C Y's EPs? One of the best upcoming in the UK rn. Love all of them

Charlotte Day Wilson, Sevdaliza, Santigold, Grimes, Shura. There are many that don’t coincide with conventional hip-hop production, but self produce their albums. Womyn with multi instrumental talents exist, being willfully ignorant exists as well.

    real for sevdaliza

    Yeah she's absolutely sick

Stealing the delay designer "glass" preset trick too haha

    She's got a 2019 trappier Burial vibe

Love her Skream influence as well, his s/t is one of the best 2000s UK electronic albums imo, so loved the Summer Dreams homage.

She comes out with some really great melodies and songs as well. A lot of good producers happy to just put out vibes so appreciate her extra effort

That Biggie sample was fire too

and why don't they play video games as much? they aren't interested?

Not one magic reason, it’s a bunch of things that culminate in a culture that typically discourages women from getting into nerdy stuff like games, it has been getting better over time tho

I’m sure it’s hard to breakthrough
Working in the music industry already seems toxic enough, just imagine being female in a studio environment

I imagine most women who are multi-instrumentalists and could be great producers probably gravitate more towards indie and pop music, where being openly sexist isn't quite as acceptable as it is in much of hip hop.
