Adventure games had so much diversity

it's informed so much of my music taste honestly, they really incorporated influence from everywhere
Never played, couldn't tell you honestly. Was talking more about this guy, I don't know if it's the same.
Just remember Nintendo really tapping into the older population segment with the Wii. Never really paid much attention to VGM, will give your first link a shot. As others have said, I think it's more of the stigma related to video games.
I don't have a Switch, I never knew they made a successor.

Just took the first image from google tbh, didn't know it either He hasn't aged at all, though!
Hot take: even the most classic film compositions don't hold a candle to the most classic video game compositions
Now that I think about it, video game music might not get its deserved respect because it isn’t seen as being “European” like film music (or even classical). Sorta the same thing with hiphop compared to rock, but video game music also has not being seen as “American” against it
So xenophobia and eurocentrism

the main composers for Zelda and the FF series are def goat level talents, the melodies they made under the technological constraints they had are god level
Idk where you be looking but there’s like a whole culture around video game music and Donkey Kong in particular is crazy influential and highly regarded.
that culture of video game music lovers is basically insulated to gamers. and even a good chunk of casual gamers don't care about VGM.
and DKC is just one example. when you mention series like Persona or cult classics like Bastion (neither of which are very well-known in the US), the quality of their OSTs are kinda waved away as just being some tunes in the background of a game irl. you don't really see that same treatment with film scores.

Koji Kondo and Nobuo Uematsu are the Mozart and Beethoven of modern times
But also there's no small amount of nerds and weebs who say s*** like "I hate mainstream stuff I only listen to videogame music and anime OSTs" and they're usually f***ing losers so people prolly don't want to be associated with them and I don't blame them honestly

Nah that’s not what I see at all. It’s not just gamers. I’m not a gamer I just listen to it and I think most musicians, producers are into at this point or at least respect it. I remember a lot of praise for Skyrim music too. The 8 bit music and aesthetic is also influential
Gamers are more interested in playing the game, music people like the music. And in these music circles I see video game soundtracks mentioned INFINITELY more than movie soundtracks, it’s not even close.
Zelda music gets more than its fair share of props too, Ocarina of Time is almost a genre of music
