Why can movie studios advertise a movie as "only in theatres"

    when i was a kid i had to go watch MJ's This Is It in cinemas cos they kept advertising it as only in cinemas

    Ngl as a kid “Only in theaters” use to trip me up. Cause when it would come to blockbuster/dvd eventually I would always whine to my mom n be like “they lied they lied, they said it was only in theaters! They lied!” I know my OG tired of my dumbass

    I believe that's the premiere, so the premiere of the movie is 'only in theatres', not on streaming or authorized blockbuster locations.
