Played Destiny 2 pvp and when I saw my man become Captain America throwing his shield at me in a firefight, I checked tf out so quickly

    Halo is an arena shooter

Technically yeah but it has the same spirit as the others I mentioned.

Isn’t doom the biggest FPS of the year? Lol

I get where you’re coming from in terms of multiplayer though

I know nothing about Valorant btw

Simple answer console is the biggest area of gaming. And arena shooters in the vein of those games have always been geared toward Keyboard and mouse setups

FPS are not innovative anymore. It’s now all about following trends. Blame developers that all try to copy CoD and battle royales formula for the mediocre shooters on the market.

This plus the skill gap in those games. And they may be seen as outdated considering the lack features like sprint and ads

    The rise of console games

Arena shooters were too fast for gamepad players and that's why Halo has very slow movement.

    I also blame Half Life

Half life popularized waiting for NPCs to stop talking

I feel like i missed out on what would have been my fav genre. I wanted Reflex to take off really bad in like ~2015 but it was never going to happen

  • May 11, 2020

Good thing we're having a boomer shooter renaissance right now

Check out Ion Fury (coming to consoles in 3 days), Amid Evil and Dusk

Fatigue and poor decisions by damn near every large arena shooter developer.

BRs started coming out when COD and Halo were at an all time low in popularity and they were unheard of when they first came out. It was hard to believe you could get 100+ players in one map and lobby. It was something new

Oh God... Reading this made me realize that we might get a BR mode in the next Halo. Probably will have a "Halo" style to it too

I would rather they did a large scale battlefield type mode than a BR tbh

Fortnite literally killed Unreal Tournament. Epic cancelled the development of the newest UT because of how successful Fortnite was. Sad. They had an alpha version out for free that had potential but it got cancelled in 2018.

Haven’t released an UT since 2007. Such a historic and influential franchise and it’s just over.
