Why did Gambino not title many of his songs on his last album

    you think that an artist (not just gambino) is interested in serving their fans everything they’ve worked on for most of their lives to master/still master w a golden spoon in this landscape?

  • my general consensus:

    a lot of artist are great
    a lot of fans are fickle as s***

    and public opinion is a mf that most are swayed by

    The problem is Gambino is great at world building with his albums

    This one didn’t give us anything to attach to in that sense so it becomes forgotten even if the music was great

  • It’s meant to be consumed as an entire album, all at once. Like how vinyl albums used to be. There was even a version uploaded that was just one ~47 minute track.

    That being said, the finished version (Atavista) is releasing soon and seems to have track titles for everything

    I’ve heard him say a few different things, recently on GILGA Radio he said it wasn’t finished but in 2020 when Covid hit it wasn’t clear if a lot of people were gonna make it so he dropped it prematurely. Although millions died it ended up being not as bad as it could have been, however obviously that wasn’t clear at the time (start of the pandemic).

    He’s about to drop the finished version of the album so we’ll finally get the completed track titles.

    He also said in a complex interview that he lost his dad at the time he was making the album so the track titles and cover being unfinished reflected how he felt at the time, like his dad died too soon and there was unfinished stuff between them.
