GFID wasn’t a flop
Went number 1 first week selling over 200K and was Gold in a few months
GFID had his best first week sales
Hood Billionaire is when it started to cool down for him popularity wise

And grammy nominated lol the album was good and it did well commercially
I'm not sure it was a misfire at all. GFID was Teflon Don but more bombastic and cinematic. Which could've been viewed as overly excessive to some. Why go with that when you could have the concise version? Sometimes less is more. With that being said, there's no bad songs on it. There's a ton of highlights, but it's hard to duplicate the success of your best work and he just (like many) wasn't able to achieve that.
True.
But I think they set the bar too high with Rich Forever too. I ended f***ing with that more then GFID
And they were kinda scrambling for singles.

!https://youtu.be/-jOmwZz0TuA!https://youtu.be/I_0bfb-DlXkRich Forever is ridiculously overrated. I remember seeing so much hype that mixtape and people going as far as to rank it alongside some of the best albums of that year. It's a solid trap project but GFID is a motion picture, a true cinematic experience. It's just an overall better project.

thats one of my fav ross songs
What was the hit single off GFID?
It didnt have one.
There was no BMF or MC Hammer type hit for his urban demo. This is the moment he kinda crossed that line where you kinda gotta keep going more and more pop, bigger and bigger.
And he kinda plateaued.

These were hits. what are you talking about? lol
He jumped the gun. Shouldve saved the song Rich Forever solely for the album
Stay Scheming
Party Heart
Those shouldve been on GFID.
They f***ed up.
GFID just doesnt hit even in the way his older albums like RMTY or POM2 do. Pirates? Its forgettable ultimately. 4 Kings? A throw away.

Diced Pineapples was cool, but it's no Aston Martin Music....even tho it really wants to be.

Party Heart is one of the worst songs Ross has ever recorded though I feel like you're just f***ing with us right now lol

To be honest, he tried to recreate those songs at least 30 times since then lol
Man no one going to have a peak that lasts forever. Ross still doing 80k fw 13 years in is good and testament to the solid fanbase he's built
wasnt gfid the album with the 2 legendary flop singles that got completely scrapped
one of them had nicki on it

So Sophisticated
Diced Pineapples
Hold Me Back

Those songs were mediocre imo.
Same with most of Mastermind.
Hood Billionaire was abysmal.
It took him 3 albums to get to Money Dance. Now that's a classic Ross single

Money Dance is hard af and a level above the rest, but it's not really fair to compare them to a masterpiece like that.

Respect.
I'm a big Ross fan. Im only comparing him to himself

But its dope that he kept going till he got another one.
I've enjoyed his last 2 albums more then anything hes done since Rich Forever.
how did it flop?
it was a pretty big album
It did decent numbers but that doesnt necessarily relate to quality.
And it still just went Gold.
I dont think Ross has ever had a Platinum album and that was the expectation for GFID
Ross has nothing important to talk about. Like what is he even saying? Is any of his music super personal? Does he talk about his life, struggles, relationships? Its always some general s***
I dont know who ross is besides a made up d*** dealer persona
B**** he's a monster no good blood sucker
Fat motherfucker now look who's in trouble
As you run through his jungles all you hear is rumbles
Kanye West samples here's one for example

why was it expected to do more than regular rick ross albums?
maybe bc he was coming off teflon don, but if that album only got gold idk why you'd expect his next album to do more
