Don’t really get the responses on the first page. Imo he just stopped caring about innovating hip hop and stopped paying attention to the culture.

    He just got old lol

Why is everyone looking for some big reason?

At his peak, Wayne was as popular as any other rapper’s peak

He just got old though.... rap started changing and he didn’t evolve with it... that’s all there is to it

    1) he definitely did go a bit “too” experimental

    2) he objectively started making bad music

    3) label issues

    4) he lost his voice

He still sounds the same when he talks

His subject matter evolved into being a more literate version of lil pump recently

Umm Wayne has a huge amount of songs full of substance and real s***. You're obviously a casual so he quiet and learn not to speak on s*** you're ignorant about. It will help you not look so f***ing stupid.

Tbh.... he fell back cause of nicki and drake, he let them get the shine. Also Wayne started being him self {skateboarding etc) instead of tryna keep the gangster image up. When he did try to come back his music was more miss than hit, his style was a lil bit dated, cause ppl like thug and others evolved it melodically. But am I the only one that thinks lil wayne is goina die this year? I mean the writing is on the wall, how can yall not see this. His end is near..........

Chill the f*** out bro jfc

Lil Gayne/McDonalds meme killed his appeal to white people for a while. Rebirth killed his appeal to black people for a while

I can't speak for everybody but I'd say nowadays artists have more of a melody to their songs. Back in the 2000s it wasn't that far off from more old school beats with some OG rap over it. Now rappers don't go as hard on beats, it's more smooth and they even try to sing and the beats themselves aren't as harsh imo.

I personally enjoy all that but when I listen to older s*** it's what I started with back then like 50, Wayne and Kanye.

All the Wayne beats are either weird or still quite have an older sound to it.

Not to mention the countless features that were hits.

He’s still got it when he wants to, he already was the “guy”. He’s not hungry no more

But his voice is still there, he just doing that other weird voice for some reason.

Just like Kendrick's dumb ass alien voice.

  • Feb 8, 2020

His dominance didn’t last because for mainstream rap, the sound went away from aimless punchlines to more introspective stuff ala drake cold Kendrick

His voice is just fine now. I didn’t like it on SFTW2 tho but it didn’t last so it’s ok
