because too many people copied him so he deliberately changed his style

S/T and Die Lit era spawned the dreads/Supreme/Jordan 1/Pierre Bourne type beat wave that a lot of people ran with

then he disappeared for years and reinvented himself with WLR, which created the rage beat wave, Yeat, Ken Carson, Destroy Lonely, etc

he disappeared again, changed his beats, flow, bars, etc and came back with what he’s doing now

Rocky tried riding the S/T Die Lit wave after Yams died and Carti realized it and cut him off

Carti addressed this in his 2019 Fader article:

These days, Carti says, he talks to the same three or four people every day; other than that, he’s fine spending time by himself. jj reddick i think talked about a major problem being rules, i think overseas players are genuinely taught how to play the game of basketball as its intended to play in the modern day, where as i think a lot of american high school and colleges are still stuck on rules and idealogies that dominated the sport years ago, like pre NBA years ago

also after playing ball myself (casually. VERY CASUALLY) in europe, i can 100% say the teamball mindset is a thing. you can run with randoms and niggas are never playing hero ball. theres gonna be a main scorer / faciliator, but the ego is just way different in the casual game / culture of playing . at least in paris

neighborhood of my old hs, some young nigga my age earky 20s got shot by a f***ing little kid over a basketball game.

basketball culture is abysmal in the states and if you look at the behavior of the american players, its p bad. nba has kinda always been full of knucklehead ass niggas, but the amount of money players are getting + the superstar culture of nba ($$$) + american culture is trashy creates this cesspool of ego. ego has never won basketball games corny as it sounds, its a big part of the game, but all the humility is lost.
