More people than ever have access to production software/hardware, yet we don’t get focused beat tapes any more. What gives
mfs wouldnt make half the money they make when getting billboard placements with rappers on them
if you a producer for a hobby sure, but if you're trying to live off this s*** that would be 10 times harder than it already is

That’s true but damn I wish some of these producers would occasionally drop tapes on their off time. Like imagine a lil 30 min Pierre beat tape with all sorts of layers and switches
Easier than ever to for the average person to find samples. Not worth the legal headaches for a producer to put all that time and effort and lose money

We can make instrumental hip hop without samples. That’s part of why I wish the scene didn’t die off, cause now everybody just associates the genre with boom bap and samples
It can be more

no money in it tbh. the average person even if they love music probably has no interest in it unless they're a producer themselves

to make it financially viable involves having some sort of presupposed proximity to cultural greatness. young producers and producers with no cult following of their own don't have that

Sherm beats are quite good, but I was thinking of bigger artists like knx and clams. They just don’t exist much anymore
There’s plenty of small artists though
I still think that all albums should release instrumentals as the deluxe. Lotta these new niggas getting renegaded by the production, and the beats are the only hard things about these songs that be getting hyped up.

Clams released a short beat tape in November, but that lack of traction is one of the reasons many producers have eased off it.
