I think most ppl's dislike of critics comes from that fact they can't handle a person not agreeing with them. We've become a little sheltered by how easy it is to encounter ppl who think the same these days (i.e the internet). The moment a different opinion or prespective arise they end up feeling attacked. Its like some kind of bubble ass living.
and this is why i wanted to discuss this
the generation old enough to remember life before the intenet
but young enough to still be hip
gotta raise the next gen
we are our only hope
may the force be with us — always

twitter music users are awful
It's not racism to suggest people from different cultures may not be able to accurately assess music from different cultures. I wouldn't expect some nigga from Alaska to get why African beats are popular.
People from different backgrounds bring different perspectives that have value. That's basic human social economics, to suggest segregation or out right dismiss other people purely because of their background is discrimination. That's how you hold yourself back and it's embarrassing you don't realize or care about what you're suggesting.
Everyone is entitled to an opinion and you can simply ignore it. That should never change

If it were up to Saint this guy wouldn't be allowed to live how he chooses
If it were up to Saint this guy wouldn't be allowed to live how he chooses
people will do what they want
of course
i have no problem with that
but i believe artists and fans deserve better
and so i will always fight for the ideal
i'm just sharing my thoughts on how i believe it should be
nahmean
i'm never saying my way is the only way
fans are free to like what they like; I feel like they put enough pressure on critics to not let them go batshit with opinions. its an imperfect but fine dynamic.
it was def a lot worse back when you had no internet and actually had to rely on magazines and mtv to find music. at best you had paid curation and at worst you had payola

Worst thing is how 20 years later they come back and change their reviews cause it’s unpopular to hate on the album now

does curation not involve critique?
in a "lying by omission" sort of way

Again, if they don't even understand the point of the music, how the f*** can they provide value? Having an opinion isn't inherently valuable the same way having an opinion isn't inherently useless. It's important to learn first before you criticize something. What's the reason people use the phrase "real rap fans" "casual fans"? What's the reason why sometimes people bring up "well he's white" so I get it. All these questions are often valid.

not really, you say what you like first and dissect music second, not the other way around
