See, I’m Nigerian, so I love to credit Afrobeat with Fela—he in fact coined the name—and I love to discredit Ghanian Fante and early Ghanian Afro Funk.

but this was the sound coming out of Jamaica during the 60s, and the movements and ideologies were VERY different. Influence doesn't mean origin. Also doesn't explain dancehall either

Apr 6, 2020·1 replywopi mean i'm from uk but I have a few american friends too. i've come to accept for the most part it's ignorance, and a 'we are better than the rest of the world at everything' mentality, which couldn't be any further from the truth. it's not just music it's in pretty much everything else like travelling, cultures, etc. it's sad but not everyone be like that though, just generally the majority
