That’s not to say women can’t rap - it’s just that what’s being pushed out to the mainstream (Cardi B, Nicki, Meg, etc) is utter s***. At least for me, it comes down to quality of music. I love female vocals in literally every other genre

Because female rappers are genuinely garbage esp in the rap genre. I don’t see females being disrespected very much at all in a genre such as r&b. Like I would rather listen to Kelsey Lu and Kilo Kish than Megan Thee Stallion - but which one has more mainstream appeal?
It's a shame because in a perfect world we would see a Kilo Kish, Noname, and/or Kari Faux topping the charts often

Huawei5GA lot of women like music based on how the artist looks rather than the music content. That’s why s*** like one direction and boy bands are popular. If a girl singer is attractive most dudes won’t actually listen to their music if it is bad
you can say the same about the "average/general" dudes.
this is just what people that dont care or dont think too deeply about music are to a degree. it isn't exclusive to women.

It's unfortunate because the female rappers who really do be snapping hardly ever get their shine unless they start getting sexual with their videos, outfits, etc.
Like by all means they can be sexual, but I feel like when that characteristic is pushed the most I lose interest because I look at it as some sort of lazy ass s***sells marketing.
Women in rap should be able to get popular without having to be propped up as just a piece of meat.
