SH3 has quality rapping on every song and good production.
The narrative has been that Drake's fallen off, and I can admit that he hasn't been as consistent as he used to be. But, SH3 displayed that he can still rap with the best of them - when he wants to.
i agree but i also loved FATD so IMO you can throw that entire album into this point you're making. FATD > SH3 in my personal opinion, and I love SH3
drake pretty easily has the best catalog of any rapper in the 2020s when you compile all of his albums + singles + features in the last 5 years
cause the reality is they didnt actually want that concise drake rap project they talked about, it was just an important talking point when criticizing his other albums
when he gave it to them, they chose to ignore it and move the goalposts again. exactly why he needs to do what he said and make music for the people that actually like his music, not try and win over the haters
SH3 was good but yall dragging it like that s*** is illmatic. It was cool.
same s*** with hnvm, these aremt the ground breaking projects people pretend it is

Tbf was anyone really saying that? Feel like people like myself who enjoy it just appreciate it being a departure from his standard formula and recognize it as a passion project

Nobody is pretending maybe people just really enjoy those projects 🤯

No one said it’s groundbreaking. We enjoy it cause it’s one of our favorite styles of Drake music, consistently for an entire project, and very needed departure from his fan-service type projects.

Lmao. Mind blowing revelation 😂

Or SH3 is that impressive. The nigga did what every rapper does and rapped and you niggas want to make it seem like he created a new genre. It’s cool

Yes they were. Half of this site became House Music connoisseurs overnight when Drake did it.

I didn’t really see that but maybe I don’t know what posts you’re referencing. I think if it serves an introduction to the genre for folks then that should be a good thing. I don’t think anyone would ever claim he was making some sort of house masterpiece or anything

They push this angle that Drake hasn't missed on a single project and then swap it to "Well, it's a fine project." once people call them out for gassing it.
Her Loss was considered AOTY when it dropped and people on here still call it a classic in spite of it just genuinely being a solid project.

They are if you mostly just listen to drake

Because the songs lacked the energy of a Lord Knows or 5am in Toronto and the content/meaningfulness of a Say Whats Real or Too Much or Look What Youve done. So even tho Drake technically rapped well, the songs didn't stick with most people.

I can see this.
It kinda felt like a 3 listen classic and then we moved on.

Cap
You could've left the r&b songs off IYRTITL and it still would have been received well (even tho Jungle is my favorite Drake song).
Hell, you could have cut the second half of scorpion and I think most people would have liked it about the same
Drake had a weird uncharacteristically sleepy delivery all over that scary hours s*** fam. If he even rapped with the energy he had on Daylight for the whole EP people would have liked it a lot more.

Who said it was ground breaking lol it’s just a different for drake
