This has always fascinated me. Like if an artist is talking about shooting innocent people/kidnapping people/robbing people etc why are you excited/intrigued by this? Is it cus most people never actually deal with real goons?
Dont get me wrong i love rap and i get the history behind violence in rap but personally i dont mind if an artist is fake as long as the music is good. What about that realness makes the music more compelling?
I don’t really give af tbh, what matters the most at end of the day is if the music itself is good
Maybe in pop or some s*** yeah I don't care but hip-hop is different. The voice of the streets can't be some white kid from Australia put on by a label his parents work for.
You don't have to give a f*** but some people live this life so it's more than just a song on the radio to them
You say you don't care but there is a reason why you listen to the rappers you listen to.
There is some ounce of believability in what they are saying
I doubt people on here genuinely care, they just use it as an easy excuse to beat artists they don't like with a stick
Run DMC, Chuck D, Beastie Boys and other pivotal figures were not raised poor doesn't matter really, unless you're doing some g posturing

That makes sense, but some of these street rapper videos have 100 mil views. No way even 1/4th of those ppl r srsly bout street life. We saw what happened with tekashi. It's not rly a game and ppl love to fantasize about it like it's a game
I enjoy fan fiction so what
KTT has loads of that

Yea I like lancey foux and he's believable
But I also like weiland who is totally not convincing
My question is for ppl who DO care not like ppl like me who rly don't care. I don't like most street rap BECAUSE I believe them
Because authenticity matters and when people aren’t true to who they are as a person in their own music it’s a big turn off to that person’s ethics and moral standing, and overall just makes them look lame
Bragging about doing something you haven’t done or lived through is lame, regardless if it’s “street” stuff or just something trivial

Canadian child actor rapping about starting from the bottom and mob ties? That’s ok.

Name what rappers or fans?
