because if u say u did sum and u didn't do it, it's corny. being bothered that an artist lies in their music is totally reasonable.

better question to ask would be, why are artists compelled to lie in their songs?

You say you don't care but there is a reason why you listen to the rappers you listen to.

There is some ounce of believability in what they are saying

Yeah believable image, not what rly happened tbh

    Quando rondo
    No cap
    Fivio foreign
    Pop smoke (the Goat RIP)
    Chief keef
    NBA YoungBoy

All real street rappers who made millions off their rep. From fans who would sooner walk across the street than be face to face with these dudes

I just think it's some type of believability that you subconsciously buy into.

We say it's just the music the industry already selects that for us

I mean I don't care if u lie. If I like ur bars and the beats is hard I'm gonna play ur song

Personally I like to freestyle and make songs rapping. I will occasionally say some street s*** cus it sounds good and that's the meta. U can't rly go over a hard ass beat talking about how u struggled with ur calculus homework or how some a****** cut u off while driving which is the s*** normal people deal with

why u feel like u gotta say some street s*** tho?

like if ur a serious artist, not just freestyling in some car, and every song u put out builds ur image, why would u put in that street s***? what makes it the meta? why is killing mfs cool?

See this makes sense. It's like a movie and people wanna see it from far away cus it's dramatic. And when that illusion is broken it doesn't have the effect of being real.

But my thing is when u see a deniro movie u know it's just a movie. Why with rappers can't it just be a movie? Some ppl rly need it to be real for them to care and that s*** seems pathological to me

I think thats more about rappers pretending to be the realest downest niggas and our expectations with that

Don’t forget being real was a huge thing in the golden age too

I can't rly answer these questions bro I don't know lol. Dudes like Larry June keep it real 100% without glorifying trap s*** and that's a model I aspire to. But because the street s*** is meta u gotta be that much more talented to sound good without capping.

Yea but if I find out x rapper isn't rly bout it I'm relieved because I don't like seeing my community turn to s***. Why would the general public not feel relieved

I guess ur right. U posed a good question although I think it's a lil more obvious than mine. I'm trying to get at the psychology behind the average hip hop fan

id say it's probably bc people don't like frauds

street s*** in rap is usually just there for the flex, or for the braggadocio aspect. it's rarely some wordplay, it's usually just there to make the artist sound cooler. It relies on the assumption that it's true. same way flexing gucci u dont own is corny, flexing street cred u dont have is corny.

of course when its not true it doesn't work well.

I see that. I don’t care but it makes the music less enjoyable if being real was a big part of what sold it. People like authenticity. I think you got a specific set of people mixed up with everybody who shares that opinion

  • Tubig

Canadian child actor rapping about starting from the bottom and mob ties? That’s ok.

Drake is not the voice of the streets. He's more like Pac or Biggie, a can come from a ok background and still express his art though hip-hop. He's not saying he's blood like Chris Brown or anything else. As for his mob ties his association with J is always what I assumed he's referencing

  • Losers look at rappers and niggas as nothing more than entertainment.

But there’s certain incidents where clowning is needed tho.

  • If thats not who they are then they should find a different lane. Chance the rapper, Tyler, Cudi don't have to pretend
