It's boring, just like Dr Strange.

I also liked Killmonger more than Black Panther himself, I hate Okoye and I always forget Lupita is in this movie. Shuri was cool though.

One a few times Black people get to act like how the white people act when ingesting content and non Black people felt excluded and were/are salty.
People make it about Black Panther being "bad" but ask any non Black person what is their favorite Black film or a Black film they think is extraordinary. Most of the time they probably cant tell you. Because it isn't about the quality of BP.

... it is about the quality for many though. Literally ‘If Beale St Could Talk’ and ‘Widows’ are both films by black directors with black leads that came out the SAME YEAR as BP, and both were artistically far superior to and more interesting than black panther, and yet black panther is lauded and I didn’t hear people talking about the latter two movies really. Nor have I seen people online w the same energy as yours talking about Last Black Man in San Francisco this year. That’s three black-centric films in the last year alone that are more deserving of praise than black panther

One of those movies were more promoted than all of those movies you mentioned combined.

With that being said you can make that argument about any comic book movie or nerd flick that has ever dropped in comparison to non nerd cult flicks that feature a majority white cast. The only difference is that Black Panther gets way more s*** from nerd cult. But directors can't even talk about Marvel without being called salty old grandpas

S***, people were upset BP got nominated over Infinity War while simultaneously saying BP is just another marvel movie. So if that's the case then all marvel flicks are average so why get upset that BP got massive love and not upset about IW?

And I'm willing to bet that the majority of the nerd cult community who are s***ting on BP weren't even thinking about seeing the movies you mentioned to even start that conversation.

Comic books are rooted in clear enemies and in America the good guys always look like standard white people. For once they saw themselves on the other side of the fantasy and couldn't enjoy the roller coaster ride

Some people may be the way you described in that last paragraph but what I’m trying to say is that myself and a lot of others like me criticize black panther just for the same reasons we criticize the rest of the marvel movies. We criticize BP as well as the rest of the white led marvel movies because they’re all equally bad. I’m not saying BP is worse than the rest of those movies, I’m saying it’s just as bad as them which is pretty f***ing bad. And actually I think a lot of people pretend it’s not bad or are scared to say what they really think about it because of the cultural and historical significance. So while there may be racist neckbeard nerds who slam it for the reasons you stated, I think there’s also a lot of people out there preaching and believing that the only reason you would say anything bad about the movie is cause you’re racist. Both of those sides are stupid.

it was solid. one of marvels better scripts but the direction and aesthetic felt run of the mill or only a tier above standard marvel movies. especially with coogler in the chair. tell me it ain’t obvious marvel movies are made by committees and the filmmakers are only front men.

soundtrack was great tho. biggest standout of the movie. backlash due to all the hype at the time and ppl acting like the movie needs to live up to stanley kubrick. this happens with every movie that blows up. but gotta admit the white knighting surrounding the movie by a lot of lames was stupid. acting like a disney product isn’t banking on easy sentiments and hasn’t been market tested to death.

I mean we already talked about BP not being great and pretty mid and you yourself pretty much stated you're not part of the demographic I'm talking about. Casuals who saw BP and thought it was good, bad, meh, or whatever, have already shut up about it.
I'm specifically talking about the nerd culture demographic who constantly ride the escapism but are suddenly unplugged and are awake when it comes to BP. Then unironically list complaints about BP that is present in most of their favorite cape flick. I'm not saying no one can say anything bad about BP. I don't even thing it's all that. It had great moments and themes but

I'm saying the nerd community is kind of contradicting to put it lightly

speaking facts. nerds playing tone deaf to all of the momentum that made BP a hit for general audiences is typical.

cgi alien bent on world domination? yessir. broken man seeking vengeance against the unjust and racist world he grew up in? yeeeeaaaa sure but could he really have taken wakanda over by himself?? Battle rhinos?? It just takes me out of the movie

man on second thought I gotta rewatch this movie. Killmonger might not have been the main character but he was the foundation for the movie. It was his story. And the scene he visits his dad in the spirit world
