I don't get it. I'm not talking about when someone points it out and then asks you what's wrong. I mean when somebody says "you look sad" or "you look lonely" and then they just walk off or whatever. Like, why say it at all then? Do they think you benefit by knowing that you're sad? Or is it that you looking sad bothers them and they want you to stop?

They don’t actually care, they had a thought and then said it out loud

Yeah you probably gotta learn to not give a f*** what people say.

They just talk to talk 99% of the time.

equivalent to creepy old dudes making passing comments at women like “smile!”

  • Nov 12, 2019

It’s so f***ing rude when people ask that. Just because I’m not sad or anything doesn’t mean I have to look cheery all the time. What’s even worse is when people say “you need to smile”. Like shut up lol. I’m allowed to happy without smiling all the time.

how tf isn’t it, it’s solely a comment on someone’s expression at the time and is in passing just like OPs situation

Women have much more reason to be creeped out and threatened by old perverts than op does

That's not my point I was talking about people that say "you look sad" and nothing more, not the people that don't say anything.

  • Nov 12, 2019

Yall cynical lol i think sometimes people do care but dont know what to do

Like i seen homeless person cry in public and have people give second glances n s*** n obviously look like they wanna help but end up doing nothing either out of fear or not knowing waht they can do

I'd rather them not do anything if all they're going to do is point it out

You mean like when people say it in a demeaning or condescending way like

    "You look saaaad "

Like you being sad is some inconvenience to them? That s*** is infuriating especially if I'm not sad.

how the f*** are they supposed to know you're actually sad if you dont tell them

sometimes i get told i look sad, but i follow up with im not sad because im not actually sad. i just happen to have a sad look on my face

im sure if you told them you're actually sad, they'd ask why and give any advice that they can or sympathize, whatever

  • Nov 12, 2019

To be fair, they probably do care but don’t know how to help. I’d say it takes two to accomplish that, aka you need to open up for that person to figure out how to approach it.
