My wife just said that she never liked Asian men born in Asia because of their lack of self confidence and belief in archaic values that don’t benefit women. Before she met me a foreign born Asian guy denied her cuz she became too independent. @op

it’s part of the whole model minority thing, tied in with older generations of asians’ colorism/racism and desire to assimilate into white society/gain social mobility

kakaoAt the end of the day, people can love who they like and have preferences. But I’d be lying to you if I didn’t say there is a degree of white worshipping and self hating to an extent that is quite common amongst the Asian immigrant community particularly in the western context. I’m Asian and I see it quite a lot, the desire to be seen as fitting in, a rampant history of colonialism coupled with western soft power.
