Because its clear his sense of self worth and the way he operates is in no way tied to established societal(ie white) values. That comes off as extremely arrogant and frightening to those who are threatened by what he represents: a mentally, spiritually, and financially liberated black man.

this is close to the truth but to say his sef worth is not tied to white male corporate establishment is not true

he fully went on a campaign from 2013-16 that went from comparing himself to steve jobs, shakespeare, and disney to then begging ceo’s like zuckerberg and schmidt to fund his ideas.

when asked why not do it himself we got the classic “how sway!?” rant

not saying this as a diss to you or him but we can’t really say he’s not tied to the establishment when he’s fully committed to becoming/replacing the establishment itself

before the trump stuff kanye hâte was always completely unwarrranted and baseless. even before i was a fan and i was just a kid, i couldn’t understand why people (especially white people) did not like him!

i felt like it was so stupid because he simply spoke his mind and was black

it has become a lot more complicated since the trump co-sign tho. i think the bottom line is that he garnishes a lot of attention. it’s like a car crash you can’t look away from

with mj and prince dead he’s the greatest living popular artist , and i don’t say that as a diss

i say popular artist because there really hasn’t been anyone, (i don’t even think in human history) who has truly mastered the art of bringing the “high/fine” arts together with what is traditionally considered “low class” art

it’s brilliant and he continues to do so at such a rapid pace that nobody, not even capitalism itself can keep up with.

his schizophrenic like thought process is a lot smarter than people really will give credit for. a lot of people think the “childlike creativity” thing is stupid, but philosophers such as deleuze have spoken exactlt aboht this schizo like thought process in the 60s !!! (capitalism and schizophrenia)

kanye has applied this theoretical / abstract way of thinking to his entire life. sadly because he is doing it at such a grand scale at a fairly young age (guy is barely 40, and spent most of his younger adult life doing this exact work) we see the worst flaws of this kinda schizo creative process.

saying all that to say, yes ppl throw the label of “genius” onto him, but i dont think many really understand what exactly makes him so profoundly intelligent.

even tho he gets appreciation and love, i don’t think he will live to see his true impact on the world

    That's perfect.

Kanye is like a car crash.

And if you look too long you might end up crashing yourself.

hahah that last sentence is brilliant

    it’s so true

i felt like i tried so hard to be him during hs, first few years of college

realizing since covid that it’s stupid to take everything he says and does as gospel

even though i’m very critical of him now, it’s like i’m still a stan i just can’t admit it

and me being critical of him actually
    makes the obsession worse

Like obviously to the extent that he needs to be economically tied to societal norms to succeed he is, but I think thats to be expected for anyone with ambition to build something in this world. Socially however he scoffs at whats acceptable(the Tswift thing, Bush, Trump... etc) hence all the backlash.

However Kanye views himself in the same light as those guys you mentioned(Einstein, Jobs) DESPITE how society feels about him not because of it. He thinks he's a genius now just like he thought he was a genius 15-20 years ago. Its almost entirely independent of anyones opinion of him but his own which is what I mean by self worth.
