It’s a complicated issue, like should we normalize @DevilOrAngel route of telling kids to shut the f*** up when we hear them putting on an accent whether it’s intentional or not?

Because if I’m being honest even though society doesn’t force me to code switch in the sense that Black Americans are sometimes forced to, but I catch myself doing it especially when talking to an administrator at my school vs. when I’m talking to students. I don’t do it intentionally, but I notice it. Am I wrong for that? I could try and mask it but that just feels like I’m disguising myself even further.

Everyone code switches. It’s just cringe when it’s like in a weird race based way

I mean all social media here is also pretty much government controlled except for Twitter now, so I guess it’s hypocritical.

    Not government controlled

Controlled by elite private interest, twitter included

Uhh government controlled yes. Have you not paid attention to the twitter files? You can frame it however you want but tech companies are heavily influenced and censored by the US Government.

Twitter being the exception because Elon has openly said he is pushing for free speech on the platform and exposed a lot of the behind the scenes censorship by government agencies. And that stuff was happening across all platforms and still is.

Just look at the covid & Jan 6 response.

as black people we just gotta decide as a family to just talk "white" for a whole year and see how the white folks respond to it.

BRing back "gee wilikers" and "heebie jeebies" in the raps

I mean as a society we code switch but in basic social and business terms. And that’s where the line is drawn further for me than you. But when you have kids like that and frat boys who listen to rap to try and feel like they understand the culture…they’re doing it strictly for race reasons

You're just saying the same information that pretty much everyone in this thread is well aware of at this point. Yes, we all know Tiktok is a thinly veiled spyware app that steals your information. It's designed to be addictive as possible and is obviously harmful for really everyone who uses it.

If everyone was aware of it we wouldn’t be having this discussion, because everyone would know the answer

Well you bring up a good point, the real critique is that if you're really engulfed in a culture and adapted to it or raised that way, there's really not an issue (well at least in my opinion). However when it comes to people who aren't a product of a specific culture talking and emulating that culture, it's pretty weird.

A big part of this comes from the lack of identity that most people in general have. With such a disposable culture of intense individualism these days people with developing minds can't find their real interests or hobbies that ultimately shape them as real individuals.

Digital identity paradox. It's a real thing.

Well I have all these opinions/knowledge and I still scroll mindless on TikTok so idk about that. And kids aren’t able to even grasp any of that.
