Am I wrong? They force social issues into their content, just about every Netflix original. And rarely does it improve the storyline.

    You People was extremely cringe

And Kenya Barris is apparently Chinese, I did not know that

I swear I hate this s***. Me and my homeboy were balling and this little white boy in middle school is code switching like it’s nothing, using different vernacular when communicating about a play or something on the court related but using his normal voice when talking in a regular tone to his other white friend. We started telling him to shut the f*** up at certain points cause you do that at the wrong park and it won’t be too cool then.

I hate when people act black only when it’s convenient. Nah b****, you don’t have a clue what it’s like to live in this country with such an evil and vile past towards my ancestors and my current generation. I don’t get to turn it on and off.

    The Chinese government does influence

    • Hollywood
    • media
    • own the largest social media
    • profit off cultural appropriation occurring on the app

TikTok is a channel of influence, not an influence itself

And a communist authoritarian government would never even think of using it as a tool of influence I’m sure. They definitely haven’t created algorithms that spy on you and build personality, interest, and health profiles on its users to figure out how to keep them on the app. They definitely don’t care about influencing an entire generation of kids in a country they see as competition lol

Stuff like this is just a clear b******ization of AAVE that kids are learning through TikTok and other social media

In defense of these kids, they don't know any better. Most of them don't have any idea of where these 'trends' originate from. They're just force fed it through a screen that causes dopaminergic activity.

Yeah, like, it's f***ing cringe but at the same time who are we to judge? We used to type in l33t sp34k which was stolen from 'nerd' culture.

i hate it when it’s obviously people who didn’t grow up around it

but tbh i grew up in the city and basically got conditioned to talk like that (my friends would always tell me to stop talking “white” even though i am lmao)

but yeah hearing suburban white people talk like that even annoys me

Yep. It’s grown men in my hometown who are white and Hispanic who all say the n word in front of black people and it’s welcomed/okay. Just the environment. Still cringe to me

At this point I have to disagree, like I understand what you’re saying but TikTok having the means to influence what goes viral and what doesn’t makes me disagree w this

We’re in the algorithm era. What TikTok is doing is not revolutionary. They’ve simply refined it better then, and before, anyone else. If IG reels came before tiktok it’d be the same thing

All these social media companies have processes that allow for them to suppress what they want to, and promote what they want to. TikTok is being put in an unreasonable spotlight because they’re foreign

No, because they are literally owned by a foreign adversary/foreign government. That is not disputable.

It’s a complicated issue, like should we normalize @DevilOrAngel route of telling kids to shut the f*** up when we hear them putting on an accent whether it’s intentional or not?

Because if I’m being honest even though society doesn’t force me to code switch in the sense that Black Americans are sometimes forced to, but I catch myself doing it especially when talking to an administrator at my school vs. when I’m talking to students. I don’t do it intentionally, but I notice it. Am I wrong for that? I could try and mask it but that just feels like I’m disguising myself even further.

All I’m saying is tiktok and twitter and our enhanced connectivity to eachother is why people of all races are speaking one way lol, i don’t agree with it but it’s not some evil exploitative adoption of language, it’s a consequence of these apps 🤷‍♂️

it's extremely obvious idk why anyone even coming at you

rap is the number one genre in the country, slang is going nationwide thanks to social media. no s*** everyones speaking patterns are converging a bit

it's very rare that I see a white person speak in straight up ebonics tho. it's more or less just them using some inner city slang they picked up off the internet. the only people that actually be straight up forcing ebonics for whatever reasons are flamboyant gays and s***
