I kinda hated them too but then had a roommate who was massively into them and that made me pay attention more tbh.
but it def sucks that a lot of the newer musical films have pretty insufferable music, it seems like they often pay more attention to visual flair. they do generally tend to be corny so it depends on whether or not u can embrace some corn
there's def some good ones out there, Little Shop of Horrors for example
1. @NewYorkCity is actually right that people LOVE musicals live. If what you were saying was true, Broadway wouldnt be profitable and every musician wouldnt be looking to be in that industry due to the protections it gives ya.
2. I do like some musicals if the subject matter or song compostion is fire. I LOVED The Wiz. I LOVED Once on this island. And I LOVED watching The Lion King live.
That being said, I can always give you a fire thesis on why Grease and The Little Mermaid are two of the most harmful forms of visual media ever to hit America due to the awful morals they both teach.
But it’s not “theater kid energy” as much as it is “WHITE theater kid energy” that throws me off. I also been in choir since high school. I was forced to be a part of sweeney todd, footloose, and into the woods and oh my god i haaaaated them s***s lmao.
3. People that make rap musicals should get slapped to s*** I’m sorry. And yes, that’s pretty much dissing Lin Manuel.
4. I will say EVERYONE SHOULD PEEP THE STRANGE LOOP
Might be one of the funniest things I’ve ever heard with such a great great backstory
I like music
I like movies
dont need to see them combined
Notoriously movies never have music in them
can’t suspend my disbelief when someone randomly bursts into song
don’t like the musical styles usually represented
I thought what I disliked with music as a art form, and to answer that:
As a composer I wish a composition could have an “original” copy like in painting.
Music gets pressed to get mass produced, I wish there was an original copy like in painting
Notoriously movies never have music in them
you know what he meant by that twinny
I dont agree with his statement tho. some of the greatest soundtracks come from movies.

Buddy the one person that obeyed Dreyer and actually watches Passion Of Joan Of Arc with no musical accompaniment
you know what he meant by that twinny

I do but i think its a dumb sentiment 🤷♀️

Why do you think you couldn’t enjoy the things you were “forced” to do as a member of a choir lol
“Forced” is very heavy language when talking about a high school student as apart of an ensemble
because the musical numbers just disrupt the entire movie to give you a mediocre song for 5+ mins
It can be done well though, for instance - Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory

So is Donald Trump
Does that make him a good thing too? Nope.
