I think we need to broaden the definition of "metaphysics" here.

Everything is, as you describe it, somewhat metaphysical, because our understanding of the nature of physical reality is always subject to change. Quantum science itself is disrupting some of our most basic, long standing assumptions about physics

But, since we cannot have a definitive truth on how reality works and what it is, at least at the moment, the best thing we can do is to compound our understanding of the world around us based on empirical a***ysis, while also understanding the limits of said a***ysis due to the limits of human perception over the external world

I think we are ideologically at least pretty closely aligned, but I think you're giving materialism a bad rap.

There's a difference between materialism and material determinism, is what I'm getting at.
